I need temporary cable access to watch March Madness! I do have an antenna, but need something that gives me TBS, TNT and truTV.
Between the following, which works most reliably on AndroidTV? I'd also strongly prefer 5.1. I love my Nvidia Shield Pro (I think the 2017 model?), but also have a Chromecast with GoogleTV I could use.
What I've been able to gather from research and personal experience:
| Service | Price | Works on Nvidia Shield? | Works on GoogleTV | 5.1? | Other Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| YoutubeTV | 64.99 (already did trial) | Buggy, maybe not | Yes? | Yes | Until it started having issues on my shield, this worked really well for the olympics in the past. |
| Hulu + Live TV | 69.99 | No? | Maybe? | Not sure if 5.1 | Mixed reports that this doesn't even work on my shield |
| SlingTV | 35 | Yes? | Yes? | No | When I tried this a few years ago, it was very mediocre |
| FuboTV | 65 (after 7 day trial) | Yes | Yes | No | |
| Directv Stream | 59.99 | Yes? | Yes? | No | App seems mediocre |
| March Madness App + YoutubeTV | Depends | Yes? | Yes? | No | App quality TBD |
I'm leaning towards YoutubeTV, and resorting to my Chromecast with Google TV if the app is still acting up on my shield. I'm also considering SlingTV, but the app was pretty awful when I tried it a few years ago.
edit: added FuboTV
So i already have This usb-c hub on my chromecast with Google tv, and while the one random 16gb usb stick works fine in terms that I can install apps on to it and get bit of a breathing space in terms of storage with it.
The system has gotten bit slower since then and for example sometimes when I'm in the system settings, the settings app freezes and then throws me back to the launcher.
And also if i go to the more apps (apps that didn't fit in the my apps list) or if I open the sideload launcher. Then it takes 5-10 seconds for all of the app icons to appear, when previously it used to be instant.
So i would like to know if there is faster storage options than this random 16gb Kingston dt50 that would be better fit for gccwgtv.
I know it sounds mad but I want to display WebGL page that displays continuous code based art.
I need it to be on an Android media player that does not have to stream at all. Needs output at 4k. The WebGL is quite complex (particle system simulation).
..I am a complete newbie in this space. I know a mini PC would probably be better, just not an option.
I would love some suggestions or guide from you experts!
Thanks in advance
