Best Live TV Service for March madness?

by roanders

I need temporary cable access to watch March Madness! I do have an antenna, but need something that gives me TBS, TNT and truTV.

Between the following, which works most reliably on AndroidTV? I'd also strongly prefer 5.1. I love my Nvidia Shield Pro (I think the 2017 model?), but also have a Chromecast with GoogleTV I could use.

What I've been able to gather from research and personal experience:

Service Price Works on Nvidia Shield? Works on GoogleTV 5.1? Other Notes
YoutubeTV 64.99 (already did trial) Buggy , maybe not Yes? Yes Until it started having issues on my shield, this worked really well for the olympics in the past.
Hulu + Live TV 69.99 No? Maybe? Not sure if 5.1 Mixed reports that this doesn't even work on my shield
SlingTV 35 Yes? Yes? No When I tried this a few years ago, it was very mediocre
FuboTV 65 (after 7 day trial) Yes Yes No
Directv Stream 59.99 Yes? Yes? No App seems mediocre
March Madness App + YoutubeTV Depends Yes? Yes? No App quality TBD

I'm leaning towards YoutubeTV, and resorting to my Chromecast with Google TV if the app is still acting up on my shield. I'm also considering SlingTV, but the app was pretty awful when I tried it a few years ago.

edit: added FuboTV

I'm not a current live TV subscriber but Hulu Live works on the Shield. It took them a long time to update for it but it should be working now.

If there are any issues you can always Cast from your phone to your Shield.

It's interesting that you have youtubetv issues on the shield. I don't... I wonder what's up. I would recommend it hands down, and I have them all. (Yes, I have more money than sense.)

Youtube TV only has 5.1 on some built in apps like on LG TVs. 5.1 sporadically pops up on Apple TV and Roku devices for testing but there is no way to opt in or know if you are going to be one of the lucky few.

My shield tube was pretty flakey with YouTubeTV as well. And HBO Max was almost unusable. We debated going pro (we have a 2015 Pro on another TV with no problems) but decided to try the CCwGTV and it's been very solid so far with both of those services. It has limited memory, so you can't pile on the apps, but when I have only what we use on there it runs very well.
