Hello.
I bought a MiBox S to run Kodi. So far so good, the only problem is, that each time the MiBox is restarted, Android TV decides it wants to check what files I have on my external USB case, which happens to have 4 x 8 TB hard drives.
Of those, only 2 have movies and series, the other two have millions of small files, so it takes a lot of time for Android TV to check them all, and it makes MiBox absolutely sluggish.
At first, I thought it was a problem with the MiBox, so I bought a Meecool KM2. But it is exactly the same problem, so I assume it is something in ATV.
What happens exactly is that as soon as I connect the USB drives, or turn on the USB hard drive, ATV starts to check for what information is on the hard drives.
A pop up that says "Checking XXXX1 USB drive...", "Checking XXXX2 USB drive...", "Checking XXXX3 USB drive...", "Checking XXXX4 USB drive...".
If I go to the notification icon and press it, the Notifications column appears on the right, and it lists all hard drives as:
Checking XXXX1 USB drive...
Reviewing current content
Checking XXXX2 USB drive...
Tap to set up
Checking XXXX3 USB drive...
Tap to set up
Checking XXXX4 USB drive...
Tap to set up
If I press on either option for "Tap to set up" I see the options Browse, Set up as device storage, or eject.
Eject just does that, browse shows what is inside the hard drives, and set up as device storage tries to format the hard drive.
By the way, in the case of the Mecool, the 3rd hard drive makes it crash and restart, the MiBox works just fine.
But the process takes about 45 minutes and is a pain to see the hard drives spinning like crazy. Is there any way to stop Android TV from doing this?
Thanks.
You can see what I mean here.
I've never seen that but I noticed on the video set up drive is still present. Have you let the device set the drives up as removable storage. It's like the device doesn't know the drives and is getting acquainted on every restart. Just something that popped into my head.
