Someone keeps attempting to pair to my TV

I have a Hisense H8F Smart TV and someone nonstop is trying to pair a Bluetooth device to my TV and interrupts what I’m watching. I can’t seem to turn off Bluetooth in order to stop them from pairing. Any suggestions on how to stop this or find out who it is? I live alone btw so not a family member.

Thank you

Looking for a solution that allows me to display a daily schedule on my Android TV

Hi,

I am looking for a simple solution that would allow me to use an Android TV as a simple wall display that lists my daily schedule (by the the hour)

My only other requirement is that the hour of the day and corresponding routine activity is highlighted/selected.

Any thoughts on how I could accomplish this? I could build a simple Android App, but can I set it as the default app and background it without the display turning off?

Perhaps there is a simpler solution?

How can I add a PIN/password/parental lock to TV startup or individually on the apps

Is there a way I can add a lock on tv startup, or just individually lock the apps, preferably without any third-party applications? I did manage to find a setting that says "Parental" which asks a password but nothing happens when I set it or change it and there are no other settings inside the menu.

Before anyone asks, the lock is for me. I want to stop myself from turning the tv on but not everyone else in the house. I have exams coming up and unless I lock myself out, I'll keep procrastinating.

I contact MeCool support and was given instructions and a file. The device will not accept the file from any of the options you see in the blue screen. When i replied to MeCool with my issue, Communications on their end stopped. The red box you see is where the cursor was when i took the screen shot.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Question about Live Channels - has it changed recently?

I use the Live Channels app to watch TV using a TVHeadend box. Live Channels was fine for that (I have a little shortcut app to open it, but you can also open it with voice).

I had to reset my Chromecast With Google TV the other day, after for some reason it died.

On reinstalling everything, LiveChannels appears to have gained some annoying category top-level listing (which I don't want), but more irritatingly, when it comes to some of the channels for which I don't have an EPG, it scrolls to the furthest right of the EPG (to the 19th March) as soon as I scroll through them, making the entire EPG impossible to use.

The strangest bit is that when hitting the "select" button on a channel, it now had two big bright blue buttons, one marked "CHANNEL UP" and one marked "CHANNEL DOWN".

What have I done to it? Is there a way to return it to how it was? Is this an update everyone has?

EDIT: in the comments, it’s pointed out that this behaviour happens when you turn on any accessibility feature in Android. Turn it off, and the strange EPG scrolling-to-the-end behaviour, and the bright blue buttons, disappears. THANK YOU!

Android TV client for Fritzbox 6660 "IPSec" or "IPSec Xauth PSK" VPN Server?

I have setup the VPN service within my Fritzbox 6660 cable modem. I can connect using windows, iphone or any android smartphone. Just setup the VPN settings and GO!
But a big bummer as it seems Android TV still does not have VPN settings in the network settings.

So you need to install an app to be able to use VPN but all apps offer their own VPN service but I need to connect to my own VPN server that has been setup on the fritzbox 6660 cable modem and that uses an Android VPN client being able to connect to a "IPSec" or "IPSec Xauth PSK" VPN server.

So I have these settings:

VPN type: "IPSec" or "IPSec Xauth PSK"
Server address / Server: *****
IPSec ID / Group name: *****
IPSec key / Shared secret: *****
username / Account: ******
Password: *******

Which VPN client/setting do I need to connect to this VPN server/service using Android TV on a Google with TV Chromecast or any other Android TV STB/SmartTV ?

Can't reduce or raise the volume more than one by one on Mi TV

Hello,

It's been several months now that I can't reduce or raise the volume more than one by one on my MiTV 4s, and now on the Android TV box which is also connected by HDMI CEC.

It's getting very annoying, especially on Mi TVs that have a system where the volume is managed on 100.

I tried Button Mapper, Button Remapper, Automate with preconfigured keys, but nothing was effective.

Unfortunately Macrodroid does not work on ATV. Any suggestions ?

Thank you for your help

Pairing NON-media/input Bluetooth devices (OBD2 dongle)

Hey everyone! I bought an Onn. Streaming Box at Walmart a couple of days ago, intending to plug it into my car's backup camera screen and run Torque Pro w/ a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle, for digital gauges. I sideloaded the apk onto the box and used a remote app w/ mouse cursor to set up the layout, but when I went to finally pair my OBD2 dongle, it wouldn't pick it up. Since the screen just says "Accessories", I'm guessing you can only pair things like headphones, controllers, keyboards, etc.

Is there any way around this? I'm waiting for a powered OTG cable to be delivered tomorrow, and I plan on rooting and (probably) flashing LineageOS, but in screenshots of Lineage it looks like the Bluetooth screen just straight up says "Connect Remote or Headphones".

If all else fails, I guess I could get a WiFi dongle or use a USB adapter w/ OTG (hopefully those would work), but this limitation has to just be a software thing, so not being able to use a dongle I already own (and use on other Android devices) would suck.

And for anyone wondering, yes, the Android TV UI optimized for giant 4k TV's does not work well on a 5" 480p HDMI -> RCA screen, LOL.

Some help request about Xiaomi Mi TV Stick (turn off, and restart option)

Hey guys,

I would need some help. I bought a Christmas present for my mother, and her Xiami Stick went buggy and cannot connect anymore through Chromecast (from her win desktop).

I cannot visit her, because I just had COVID not long ago, so cannot fix it soon in LIVE.

I need to do it online, remote. Although I cannot find a video or picture of how to just turn off, or even more restart the device. I remember I did some restarts around Christmas when I was with her to fix some issues, but do not remember how, and cannot describe it.

So basically if someone has a Xiaomi Mi TV Stick menu and would be sooo kind to check how to restart, turn off the device through a menu and just write here or attach a picture (s) how to do it... It would be more than appreciated.

Thank you anyone who helps :)

Mecool KD3 ordering now active; compare to Xiaomi TV Stick 4K?

The mecool KD3 ordering page went active on the mecool website.

I can't find the FCC page for the KD3. Has anyone else found it?

The KD3 stick looks quite a bit like the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K, physically.

The LED is in the same spot, as is the power jack, and the overall size looks about the same.

Of course, the internal photos would tell the story.

Mecool has been using Skyworth Digital (Video Strong) as odm/oem at lot lately. Is there any chance at all that mecool would use xiaomi as odm/oem for the KD3?

Master and Atmos in Tidal don't work with Google TV

I have recently upgraded to an Atmos setup and I also upgraded my Tidal to play Atmos content and for some reason Master quality and Atmos wont play. It says "Your Device Is Not Able To Play This Item" for Master quality content and says "Playing in Stereo, This Device is not capable of playing Dolby Atmos content" when I try to play Atmos content. I have the Chromecast with Google TV plugged directly to my Sony receiver, I figured it my fix the problem instead of having it plugged in the TV and going trough eArc, but same problem. Any ideas on how to fix or is it a Google TV or Tidal Thing?

Is Android TV still worth it in 2022 or should I just move on to Google TV

I have a CCwGTV plugged into my Roku smart TV in my bedroom and it's made a world's difference. I first got the Roku smart TV in June 2020 (before CCwGTV was even announced) but I still had trouble finding content to watch. When I got the Chromecast on release day (mid-October in Canada) it changed the game for me. I loved how it gave me personalized recommendations for things to watch, something that I didn't find much with Roku. It's actually the very thing that drove me to sign up for streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+. I especially love the watchlist feature, which really helps save stuff I like.

I'm planning on getting a new 65 inch TV for my living room. The one I'm eying specifically is the Hisense U6G (aka U68G in here in Canada). It runs the latest version of Android TV, which seems to resemble Google TV a lot more. This TV in particular has all the image quality and specs and features I want for my desired budget which is $1000 CAD and this one is currently $950 CAD.

I have heard that Hisense is coming out with new TVs that have Google TV, one of which is the U6H, a direct upgrade from the U6G I mentioned earlier. I'm kinda conflicted on whether I should wait until June-July or just bite the bullet and get the current U6G.

But my dilemma is that if Android TV is still worth getting now that Google TV is gaining more traction. Would I be missing out on much if I stayed with Android TV or would I be falling behind? I heard rumors and speculation that many Android TVs themselves are gonna get a software update to Google TV.
