Start tv by casting on Mi box S?

by Humpebumpe

Hi, is there a way to make the Mi box to behave like a "normal" Chromecast? In the way that its always available to cast to. And when you do the tv reacts to that and starts by itself. Not only do I want this because this is easier. But also because I want to be able to incorporate it in different scenes in smart home automation. And if the case is that the Mi box is unable to to this, does the Google TV work in that way? Thanks in advance!

I'm not familiar with the Mi box, but that sounds like an HDMI CEC thing. Have you checked the settings for your TV's HDMI ports?

enable cec in tv and mibox setting. it even controls my soundbar volume while casting from my phone

CEC is on per default in the Mi Box S.. Check your HDMI port supports it, or search for CEC in the settings to confirm it's enabled.

Maybe i should have been clearer. The problem isn't that cec doesn't work. The problem is that when the mi box is in standby, you can't cast to it. You have to turn it on before you can cast to it. My question therefore is: Can you somehow make the mi box to behave like an old normal Chromecast? That you can cast to it whenever?
