Is it possible to remove the apps showing on the home screen but not delete the apps from the MI Box? I want to keep the apps I have, but hide them from the top of the home screen except for a few apps. Don't want the rest of the house to have to go thru 40 apps at the top to get to one app. I didn't see anyway to do it without deleting the apps

Hello there. I have been looking to buy an Android TV that will replace my DVB-S2 receiver as well as my aging Chromecast. I looked really hard but i could only find a few unknown brands. And looking at this sub, i noticed that those unknown brands suffer from grainy screens or mediocre quantities. I appreciate any advice, and personal experience is truly appreciated.

So I just bought a LG OLED CX and bought a Nvidia Shield Pro to go with it. I currently have the Shield Running thourgh my AVR which does 4k passthrough. When I first hooked up the TV I did test the WebOS and when I played content that was DV or HDR the LG would have a little popup saying as such. Now when I use the Nvidia Shield the DV and HDR popups on the TV do not show. The picture still looks amazing though. How do I know if the Shield is truly sending that?

Also other question. Do you guys run the Shield through your AVR or go directly to TV and then use eARC?

What does enabling resolution switching on Android TV do if your TV runs on Android TV. I have a 4K Sony tv which runs on Android TV and I don’t know whether to enable resolution switching or keep it off. I get that if you are using an external box like shield you can enable it or disable it to allow the tv or shield to handle upscaling but what does it do if Android TV is built in to the TV. Should I just ignore it and leave it off?

I always cast F1TV via my old computer to my TV but this week I've build a new one and the casting option in chrome is really laggy making it unwatchable Anyone know a fix to this?

Is there a way to remap a MI tv remote Netflix and prime video buttons? I tried button remapper but all it does when I add button it actually opens up the app, I disabled Netflix and tried it again then the button isn't recognized or sends a signal to the mi tv stick.?

Any suggestions?

Update: you have to go to Bravia sync and then on cec. Everything else fails into place after.

The device (2019) detects and installs the recent update but when it restarts after the installation, it goes back to 8.1.1 instead of 8.2 and again asks for upgrade. Any ideas how to fix this?

The device is connected to the internet through wifi.

Currently am using a TiVo stick and when I try to watch my iptv every few seconds the screen flashes black. I’ve tried other inputs and it does the same. I know it isn’t the tv cause when I cast it’s fine.

I'm getting a Hisense Q8G in a week and I'd like to watch some 4k movies on it. I've heard that Kodi can be a bit too demanding for the system they have built into the TV (at least for 4k content). What is the best app to watch 4k content without worrying about lagging or freezing? HDR and 10bit/H265 support would be appreciated too.

What do you guys use to watch your 4k content on your H8G/Q8G or borderline underpowered Android TV box?

So I just got an Anker projector with Android TV from a previous owner and it's got a broken wifi. Here's me hoping it's a software issue and a factory reset may fix it. The thing is that I'm stuck at the initial setup screen and cannot go past it. Customer support hasn't provided a way to enter recovery mode (I cannot wrap my head around the idea of this being impossible, as every single Android device I encountered could boot into recovery by physical buttons combinations) so I cannot factory reset as of now because the thing won't boot into the home screen. Unless there is a way to bypass the online activation I'm stuck with a paperweight.

My only idea now is to try a USB to Ethernet adapter to at least complete the activation process. By the way, using my phone to activate it with the Google app doesn't work either.

Could you recommend a good adapter with wide compatibility? I know there are different chipsets out there and would like to maximize my chances. Alternatively, if you know a way to boot into Android TV directly, I could try that to access factory reset.

I would prefer it to have the custom channels for the main home screen where I can favorite my favorite channels and make it easier for my parents to navigate. Is there such thing yet?

I have Fire TV stick and there's a weather channel app that allows for live streaming but I don't see it in the Play Store on my Shield TV. Am I missing something or do I need to sideload the .apk that's available on the Amazon store?

I’ve got an update pending for my Philips tv (43PUS7304) just wondering if there’s any downsides to updating?

I seem to remember when I got the a Tv that it wiped the Android part clean when updating, can’t remember for sure.

I’ve got a usb set to internal storage and another to external, spent days setting up emulation apps don’t want it to be lost.

Any ideas if it’s okay to update, or even better I’d there a way to disable the update notification?
