I just got my first android tv the Xiaomi Mi TV 4X and whenever on the remote I short press the power button it shuts down complete like it even shoes the android shutting down screen and then when I press the button again to turn it on, it completely starts up from scratch and takes 2-3 mins while doing so.

Is there a way around this or a setting I might've missed? Its really really irritating to wait such a long time just got a tv to turn on.

My Twitch app doesn't refresh properly. I'll watch a stream for a while, go back to the home page and it shows me streams that were live when I originally turned on the previous stream (or opened the app) I was watching, but aren't necessarily still live. The opposite is also true, new streams that went live while I was watching aren't shown. The UI just isn't refreshing with new stream info when you exit a video.

as the title says, I have a TCL with androidtv os, it's slow and doesn't do as well as my 4 yo roku stick. Any idea if it's possible? The remote's are basically the same.

Hi everyone. I'm fleshing out my camp setup with some entertainment. Recently picked up a compact 12v projector and discovered, unfortunately, that I cannot screenshare downloaded netflix shows from my phone (Galaxy s10 5g) to the projector.

I have tried a HDMI dongle (netflix throws error after about 5 secs), chromecast + smart view (throws same error), Samsung DEX (via HDMI dongle) only plays audio no video, chromecast + 3rd party casting app.

I am looking to pick up a dedicated Android box that I can download netflix shows and hook up to the projector when I have no internet.

Looking for something that ticks as many of these boxes as possible:

• Netflix + download functionality

• on-board storage or expandable (sd, micro-sd etc). Only need a couple movies, few tv episodes each time I go out (for now) but looking to download a larger library as my trips get longer.

• as compact as possible

• wifi

• HDMI out

• preferably 12v or USB powered, but can deal with 240v using my inverter

• prefer with a remote control or media keyboard

I have never ventured down this path before, and anything I have found does not really contain the information about the ability to download shows and movies to local storage.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Ive got an issue with my Sony XBR55X900E that runs Android OS. Whenever I try to load up apps installed on the TV such as ESPN, Bally Sports, it almost always take 10 minutes to load. The software is updated to the current version as well as the apps I’m trying to load. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Can anyone get their assistant to play shows from various apps? Whenever i ask my android tv assistant to play show (ex play young Sheldon from prime video) it always says that it can't tell if young Sheldon is on prime video. Has anybody had any luck with it or is this a feature thats not yet working?

Hey, just got the TCL R646, and the Google OS is quite slow and buggy. Picture colors and aspect ratios seem subpar.

Anyone have a link suggesting optimizations to the Google OS?

I know the Roku Ultra remote has 3.5mm earbuds jack. This is super convenient.

Recently picked up a receiver + external audio system and I'm having trouble getting my android TV connected to the system. The TV I have supports ARC but my receiver does not, so I purchased an optical cable for the sound output.

I've connected the optical cable from the TV to the receiver but cannot get the sound to come out of the speakers. I have ensured the receiver is set to the correct channel (TV Audio in the case of my denon), have selected "external audio system" in speaker settings on my android TV and have selected "PCM" digital output audio settings to no avail. I have also tried checking for updates to the android TV, doing a hard reset of the system, and unplugging and replugging the optical cables but none of these worked.

I've done some googling and at this point I've more or less exhausted all the troubleshooting options I've come across on other help sites or online forums. Anyone have an idea of where I can go from here?

My TCL television has HDR but it's terrible since it only has 300 nits luminosity. HDR videos end up veeery dim, and there's no option in the television to disable HDR or switch to SDR.

Is there an app in the android store that can disable HDR or force playback to SDR ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Background: At night time, the bright tv hurts everyone's eyes. So we like to change the picture mode to a custom one we have set up which makes it super dark. However, it is annoying to have to press ACTION MENU --> PICTURE ADJUSTMENTS --> PICTURE MODE --> <scroll to the picture mode we want> ENTER --> BACK,BACK,BACK

My primary goal: To change to a SPECIFIC picture mode on my Sony TV with the press of a single button on the remote, by remapping it with Button Mapper app.

Problem: I don't know what command Button Mapper needs to send to select a specific picture mode (or even toggle through them) in the Sony settings.

Questions: -Is my primary goal (above) or even my secondary goal (below) possible? -Do I need to use Pro version of Button Mapper to send shell commands? If so, what is syntax for Picture Mode toggle?

===== Backup Goal: if the primary goal is not possible because you can't go directly to a specific picture mode with a command to the TV, I'm willing to concede that the button could be used to TOGGLE through ALL picture modes instead.

EDIT 1: No, I am not interested in using the ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness because, number one it changes my color and brightness settings from what I want during daytime use and because number two it doesn't bring the brightness and contrast low enough on the TV at night time to make enough of a difference.

I have a Sony XH 9505 65" and I am running 4K HDR movie files through the USB port (using a pen).

This is my first 4k TV, so naturally I got some 4k movies with it! So I popped in some movies and I noticed that the colors seemed muted and less vibrant and very dark on some scenes. Almost unwatchable

I remember seeing this in 1080p and the colors were much brighter, so I tested it with movies I have in both formats and indeed it is true. I played some 4k content in Youtube, that is plenty bright.

Tldr gonna be staying at a hotel with free wifi but paid ethernet/wired internet. And my boxes wifi chip has always been flakey. My phone has USB internet tethering and I've used that to pipe free wifi to other devices before. My box is the ematic 4k ultra hd if it matters.
