Video Pauses Until Reboot

Hi All,

I have a Google TV and a Shield both with the same annoying problem. When I try to play video from YouTube (or any app) the video will start and then immediately pause. It will not let me play video…… I have to restart the device and then it works fine.

Its sending me crazy and I have tried everything… Does anybody have any ideas why this could be impacting the Android TV devices in my home?

Thank You!

Are there any privacy concerns with Android TV?

As in, can you opt out of any data collection of your usage habits? I know every tech company is collecting our data, I just like to avoid it when I can and it seems like it is increasingly hard to avoid Android TV sets.

In an ideal world TVs that had great picture but weren’t “Smart” would be available, but that doesn’t seem to be the case!

Anyone else having issues with smarttube next since today?

No videos are listed. Removing and re-adding account won't work. The activation code is not showing. Deleting cache/data of the app doesn't help.

Wifi/internet connection is working with other apps.

Using the latest stable release

Device: Nvidia shield.

Tried using the app on my smartphone: same issue.

So... who else is out of space on their CCwGTV?

We've officially run out of space in our household.

We don't even have that many apps installed; they're literally all simply streaming services. Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Les Mills, IMDb TV, Tubi, Crackle, Pluto, Youtube & Youtube Music.

Officially out of room. Can't update apps, let alone install new ones (Paramount+, Disney+, Peacock, etc.)

Anyway, the absolutely tiny storage space available is really annoying.

Must-have apps on an Android TV?

Hi folks,

I have an Android TV and since I came across on SmartTubeNext, a really good Youtube-replacement, I was wondering if there are any other useful apps that might not be available via Google Store officially, such as SmartTubeNext?

I also use Kodi, which is great for watching videos stored on NAS and AceStream for various video streams.

Live channels duplicate channels

Long story short I was experimenting with PVR live I got it running but decided to uninstall it, I'm back to using just Pluto and Xumo TV. My problem is xumo TV has a crazy amount of duplicate channels , is this from the PVR live or something else. I uninstalled PVR Live, Live channels, xumo, Pluto, and when reinstalling I still have the same problem is this a Xumo TV error? I also have to mention I cleared all the cache. Any input would be appreciated.

Library/Purchased Titles on CCwGTV

Just noticed that the "Library" tab has been updated to include the watchlist, and "Purchased movies and shows" is below. However, I'm only seeing 4 of my 2 dozen + movies with seemingly no way of seeing the rest. Has anyone else experienced this? I can see them in the Google TV Android app...

Walmart Onn - Plex QSV encoded choppy video?

I recently tried my hand at encoding video for Plex via my laptop’s QSV encoder. When I play on my Onn UHD set top box (not the streaming stick) it stutters video but audio is fine. Doesn’t matter bitrate or audio format. If I play the original HEVC encoded video, it plays fine so I am using that. But I wondered if anyone else can confirm that QSV video stutters on their Onn Plex client, and if NOT, what are your settings on both the Plex client and the Onn unit? Thanks everyone

New Sony TV with Google TV and confused

Just got a Sony TV that has Google TV on it. Haven't signed in with my google account. But reading through here it sounds like it's not recommended? That it's better to to get a separate streaming device like perhaps a Fire Stick? Or does it matter if I make a new google account just for the TV?

Do I need to do one or the other to get to use HBOMax or Disney+?

Thanks!

Disney+ sounds hollow/tinny on my Android TV

So, i have a Hitachi Android TV, it has a 4K UHD screen, so naturally I watch content in 4K. I've noticed Disney+ sounds really hollow when watching 4K content, and this sound issue is resolved when streaming in the lowest quality (SD). Is there any fix to this? I'm not going to stream content at SD quality just so the sound is good, but i don't know how else to fix the sound issue.

Thanks in advance!

Kodi & CCGTV

I have Kodi installed on my Chromecast with Google TV and it seems every 1-2 months Kodi stops working and wont load up. Click on it, nothing happens. Un-install/Re-Install Kodi and it works...for about 1-2 months then it stops. I have re-installed and configured Kodi 4 times now and I think im ready to toss this. All other apps work fine.

Anyone else have an issue where Kodi just stops working on the CCGTV device?

Are peripherals able to be connected to Android TVs? (USB bluetooth adapter, USB camera, USB Microphone, etc.)

Recently I bought a Polaroid TV LE430M2 and so far the support from the manufacturer is ZERO. Seems that the support for the TV division is third party and the emails and support phones listed on the official website for that third party support are dead and no longer functional in any region. The main support team washes its hands off the matter telling me they only tend to camera related issues and redirect me to the non-existent third party support team.

I have given up on them and wouldn't recommend buying TVs from them at all (don't know about the cameras). I wonder if the community could help me solve some questions. Even though I've had Android phones, I feel like the TVs are kinda different (maybe its just the simplistic OS Polaroid installed on them) but well, here are my questions and thank you in advance if you help:

  1. Do android TVs allow external peripherals to be connected and used (Bluetooth adapters, microphone, camera, etc)? This TV doesn't have any of those so I can't connect my controllers or headphones.
  2. If the answer to 1 was that "yes but you need to root the device": Are Android TVs able to be rooted at all? Do I need custom firmware?

Need to upgrade box

We have 2 rather inexpensive Android boxes. There are a couple streaming apps that are unavailable on them. Of course they are apps we'd like to have. So upgraded boxes are our choice. How can I be sure I won't run into the same problem with a new box. Is it what version of Android the box has? I am thinking Nvidia but are there other good options? Don't need the gaming aspect as he has a PS5. I apologize for being overwhelmed by everything online. I hope y'all don't mind helping. Crossing my fingers that I'm posting this in the right place. 😉 update a few have mentioned budget. I am thinking around $150 each.
