Switching from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz wifi improved iptv streaming on CCWGTV! no more buffering!

I just wanna share my experience. I'm using a CCWGTV, so I'm limited when it comes to using ethernet, unless I purchase a usb c hub. Connecting my dongle to 5Ghz wifi shows 250mb/s when performing a speed test. It's good enough for streaming Youtube and movies on services like Stremio and CinemaHD, but it struggles with IPTV! I'm using Tivimate and it buffers like crazy. I thought the problem was with my provider, until I came across a post that suggested switching to 2.4Ghz. As soon as I did that, bam! all that buffering has gone away, and the IPTV works flawlessly. I don't understand why because 2.4Ghz is giving me half the speed of 5Ghz! It seems like 2.4Ghz is more stable when it comes to IPTV streaming.

Chromecast with Google TV instead of Shield TV?

Hello, I have had a Shield TV in my movie room for a couple of years now and I really do enjoy it. I mostly only use it for streaming services, Plex, and Jackbox. I also use it for my Bell Fibe TV instead of using a receiver box.

Recently, I have decided to switch out all my receiver boxes for AndroidTVs since I can do the same thing on them.

My original plan was to move the Shield TV to another TV, get a Shield TV Pro for the movie room, and set up the other two TVs with Shield TVs. I picked up a Chromecast with Google TV yesterday to try out since it was on sale ($55 + $25(Ethernet Adapter)) which is much cheaper than the Shield TV ($200) and Shield TV Pro ($260). I tried it out last night and really enjoyed it.

If I am just streaming on it, are there any downsides? I know I will not get the 4K upscaling and no expandable storage but with only a couple of streaming apps and no games, I should be fine.

One more question, if my house were to lose internet connection, can I still reach my Plex server on both Shield TV and Chromecast with Google TV?

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

not enough storage space to install Disney plus. over 8 gigs available. tcl.

Is anybody else running into this issue? There was a recent update to the Disney plus app. When trying to install, it gives the error of "not enough space". I checked storage and there is more than 8 gigs available. I can't believe the app would be bigger than 8. I uninstalled the app, reset TV cache, rebooted the TV. Still giving me the error. Anybody with ideas?

How to use External Storage on a Google TV?

Hello Reddit.

I just bought a Google TV/Chrome Cast at Walmart. I plutged in a USB C to USB 3 adapter and then a controler and a USB 2.0 Stick. It is running Android 10 and it is not rooted.

I have a 16 GB USB stick. I pluged it in and asked to format it. I let the system do it and it did not work. Instead of getting the traditonal storeage option I got this secure android crap. Like the shit Nox does on the Galaxy tablets and phones that no one likes. It keeps only making the GPT secure garbage that I do not want. I have an Onn andrid tablet and a HP tablet. Both allow for apps on SD card with dev mode turned on. Yet each time the dam USB is entered it has to do the secure bullshit. It is hard to even find documentation. The fiew file partaion apps need root. I pluged in the USB drive, but Gparted could not reconsize the android file system.

Any TV stick that supports Dolby Digital (not plus)?

Hello everyone, I am looking to buy a TV Stick for my TV.

The only thing to keep in mind is that I listen to everything through a Sony STR K685 5.2 av receiver from 2007, which only supports Dolby Digital (not the plus) and DTS, and does not have HDMI, only optical and RCA digital coaxial. Which TV Stick would you recommend me that is compatible with Dolby Digital? preferably that has a dedicated internal decoder and Dolby certification. I do not care brand, model and price. Any suggestions? Thank you very much!

PS: For now, I can't afford a new av receiver. my TV (kind of old, basic and cheap) only has digital audio via RCA Coax (no option of any internal decoding). all content is being played through a PS4 connected via SPDIF to the av receiver (Netflix, Plex etc) but I would like to have more flexibility with a TV Stick. I don't care if it's 4K even if my TV is 1080p, as long as it supports Dolby Digital it would be great.

TCL + Xiaomi Box HDMI-CEC(T-Link) not properly working.

Hello all, I recently started getting into 4k movies and realized my tv can't really observe 4k. Since bandwith is just too low with 100Ethernet ports, I tried making USB 2.0 work. Unfortunately almost all adapters nowadays use USB 3.0, so I couldnt make that work. It was really buggy when I tried. My last solution was to use a Xiao mi Box S which is a fantastic device and instantly worked. Unfortunately, i now have 3 Remotes and i dont want to‍ switch around all remotes. CEC sounded promising but it doesn't quite work... it works when my tv is turned off, then both on buttons turn on the tv/mi box. But when turning it off, only my TV remote turns off the mi box. Unfortunately my Mi Box remote doesn't turn off the tv. My modell is the 55ep680. It says it fully supports cec on the product page. Any idea as to what i can try? Maybe some kinda android tv debugging? Perhaps i can analys some logs.

TCL S446 - force 5GHz

wondering if anyone knows how to force GoogleTV to the 5GHz frequency of a dual combined 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi network? My TV is about 3 feet from my router with direct line of sight. Even turning the Wi-Fi on and off, the tv seems to resort to the 2.4GHz frequency as I'm not getting more than ~80mbps. Other devices that have around don't have any issue connecting to the 5GHz frequency and getting up to 800mbps.

Poked around in the tv settings but haven't found anything yet.

EDIT: so apparently, connecting to a 5GHz network is somewhat irrelevant as basically all TV network cards are 10/100 only?

Any way to reset an Android TV dongle without the remote?

I've acquired an Android TV dongle (actually from an Epson projector originally so not an off the shelf one but seems to just run the standard OS) which has been set up but not paired to the remote it came with. I'm trying to find a way to either re-pair the remote to it, or reset the dongle so it goes back to the initial setup screen so I can pair it there.

I cannot use the Google TV app as it isn't connected to a wifi network either. I even tried downloading the old android TV remote apk and connecting over Bluetooth, this does work but I can't press the "ok" button to confirm the pairing. Puttng the remote itself into pairing mode just times out since the dongle isn't trying to look for any remotes. There are no buttons on the dongle externally and none hidden inside the casing either.

I'm pretty sure this thing is a brick at this point but it would be a shame if a perfectly usable device like this was useless just because of a remote pairing issue. Anything else I can try? Any chance of maybe hooking it up to a PC and using ADB or something?

Do you get full quality if you stream a movie locally with the chromecast function?

I've downloaded a 4K movie at 16gb and I want to play it on my Google TV without losing any quality. I'm guessing that running it on MXPlayer on my phone and casting it will result in quality loss. Am I correct in that assumption?

km2 vs Nvidia shield pro? 4k, Dolby, and Netflix.

I have the km2, I mainly use Netflix, prime, and Plex, but also some services that necessitate a VPN. The km2 has been good but I'm looking for something with more power for the future. On paper the Nvidia sounds great, but do you run in to restrictions with the name brand system? Is it not "unlocked" like the km2? Is there a better Netflix 4k Dolby certified option?

Onn Android TV Box signal issue?

Im not entirely sure what the issue is here. But I was suggested this box on this forum as a cheap Android TV box replacement that can handle decrypting x265 video. Ive got a problem though. The video signal drops in and out every 30 seconds. The device doesnt restart, but the screen cuts to black and audio stops, then it comes back on like nothing happened. My old tv box and my PS5 dont do this. So it has to be this device. I tried switching to a different power supply, and no change. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Update: It works now. Went through several HDMI cables to find one it played nice with.

Edit 2: It didnt stay working flawlessly. I did a lot more testing and came to the conclusion that the HDMI signal from these tiny cheap devices are either off spec, or the lowest possible allowed leading them to be a bit sketch on some TV's. My TV for reference is a 2021 58" 4K Hisense Roku Smart TV.

"It seems to be a problem with the device having almost zero power. I played with more HDMI cables and TV Input settings. What I noticed was that longer cables would make my TV not even find a signal. Cables of 2-4ft would give me a signal but with frequent drops an reconnects with the longer of these showing what looked like static on big blocks of solid colors. The shortest cables I had of 1.5ft is holding up the best with rare drops that pick right back up.

Seeing as I noted this issue on two different boxes both with them hooked up directly to my tv and going through a splitter then to my tv, as well as all 3 hdmi ports on my television. Ive pretty much got it narrowed down to the low output signal strength from the Onn 4K Android TV Box's HDMI out.

When ruling out my TV, I used an old s905x Android box using the same cables, as well as a PS2 w/ HDMI converter, a PS5, and a mirroring cable to output from my laptop. All devices worked flawlessly except the two Onn 4k Android TV Boxes. So my assumption is they are off-spec or have abysmal QC.

Ill be upgrading to a more reliable box next week."
