Sony Bravia - Ambient Mode Photos info (Date/Location) missing

I was using a Google Chromecast with GTV on my old tv and used the photo gallery option for Ambient mode, this would show picture with date taken and location.

On our new Sony Bravia with built-in GTV the ambient mode does not show this info and I can't find it in the settings.

Not a big deal, but most of our photos are of our kids and we like to see how old they were at the time of the photo.

[Advice] What's a Good Sony Android TV ?

Hi All, I'm going to upgrade my TV soon. Currently I have a 46 Sony Bravia (Model: XBR-49X830C) older model but it works fine. I find the built-in Android great but it's gotten a bit slower over the years/updates...like all things...but I'm wanting to get a bigger size of Sony Bravia ... like 70's or 80's maybe even size.

I like the ability to interact with the TV via ADB and sideload apps if I want ... I'm not interested in just adding a Shield or Firestick to it to give it anything more...nor am I interested in any other brands really.

So is there a particular Sony with Android anyone can reccomend?

Any advice to increase my Xbox Cloud Gaming performance?

First of all excuse me if there are some spelling mistakes, I‘m German. ☺️

I just got my Xbox Ultimate subscription. I usually play on my PC but I always wanted to play on my tv in my living room. So cloud Gaming seems to be the best solution as I just got a 1Gbit/s internet connection. Anyway, I usually use my fire tv stick for things like Netflix or Amazon Prime. But as Xbox cloud gaming isn’t supported, I remembered that I actually have an Android tv box from 2016 with Android 6 and pathetic 1GB of ROM. (Nexbox A95X)

Despite the lack of ROM it seems to be a good solution as it has 2 USB-Ports for controllers, a LAN-Port and a HDMI-connection. So I proceeded to get rid of ALL unnecessary applications and services so the only thing running on my device is the XBOX Gamepass application. Sometimes it actually works quite good but usually the app crashes after selecting a game in the start menu. Do you have any advice to improve the performance? Are custom ROMs for my device secure? Best regards and thanks already😉

Any alternative app for DVB-T2 channels on Android TV?

Hello, I have a Mecool KT1 with Android TV. I bought it mainly because it has a DVB-T2 tuner so I can use it to watch streaming apps and terrestrial television.

Honestly I thought this device would last only 5-6 months and then I'd throw it into the trash, but it is still working fairly good after about 10 months. It's surprisingly since it is not receiving system updates anymore.

Sure there are little issues here and there, but not particularly big to compromise the good experience. The Live TV app for watching DVB-T2 channels is good, but I'd like to have an alternative app to test if some minor issues could be worked around.

But at the moment it seems the built-in Live TV app is the only one to watch DVB-T2 channels? I tried to search inside the Play Store but only one app (with the same name) seemed to be designed to watch TV channels, but when I install it, it's only showing Pluto TV streaming channels, no DVB-T2 lists.

Do you have any advice?

Android TV Home Global Search Microphone Icon Disabled?

Hello, I just bought a TCL 43P615 Android TV. Everything works just fine but there is a disabled microphone icon on the top left of home screen. Android global search thing I suppose.

Btw Google assistant and any other speech recognition functions work without issues.

I checked microphone permissions, I even forced to allow any non-related apps or system apps just to see if it'll turn enabled, but didn't work.

I have 2 Philips The One Series android TV and few months ago I bought another TCL P725 series for my dad. None of them has this issue. I even reset TV and reinstall everything just to see if I missed anything.

Does anyone have experienced something like this and solved?

smartphone app for control with auto connect

Hey there, I used years the original Google Android TV App and then another which got the feature "auto-connect". It was pretty useful, now every app I found is pretty annoying if I am closing it I have to select or wait like 5 seconds until it's connected again. Unfortunately I can't find the "good" app anymore...

I have tried now like 15 apps, they look terrible or don't work properly.

Does anyone got some suggestions?

Thanks guys!

help with Sony bravio TV (with ANDROID). Issues connecting online.

Next door neighbours having issues with her TV so asked me round to look at it but I'm puzzled.

UK... Virgin broadband... Sony TV with android built in.

Cannobt connect via ethernet cable. Wireless says no Internet connection but some apps such as Netflix work. Others such as YouTube and Disney are saying no Internet connection and won't open up.

  1. Forget network and reconnect. (didn't work)
  2. Reset router/unplugged for 3minutes. Reboot TV. Reconnected it all up, still no connection.
  3. Swap ethernet cable with one of my own that's works... Nope.
  4. Connected to the Internet via my phone/WiFi. That worked fine. No issues.
  5. Unplug ethernet and connect TV via wifi. Still saying no Internet connection.
  6. Used my phone as hot-spot, wouldnt connect to my phone
  7. Connect TV to my network next door via WiFi. Again, no Internet connection.... Wtf!

So after all of that I reckon it's the TV. Just won't connect to anything. I'm stumped... Never seen it before.

Would a factory reset of the TV fix the issue? What's can it be? That's one thing I did not do. After an hr of messing around my neighbour got her firestick from her bedroom. Plugged it into the tv and it works as expected. So she's watching her shows via that instead of just android via the Sony tv

YouTube Sign in does not work from Restricted profile on Android TV

I have created a restricted profile in my Android TV for my kids to have limited access to the apps.

But when I sign-in in the YouTube app, it gives me option to select one of the google accounts that are already added to the device. I select the account and then nothing happens. The YouTube app still keeps running in guest mode.

Any solutions for this?

a Shortcut maker for Android tv

Hello guys, I'm trying to understand if there is an app for Android tv that mimics the phone app "Shortcut maker". I'm already using "Sideload Channels" to show some apps but it's not as powerful as Shortcut maker. Basically i would like to be able to add an Android activity rather than a android app to one of the channels of my TV. Shortcut maker does an amazing job at this on the phone but it is not really compatible with Android tv homescreen.

Does anyone know if there is an app that add a channel to the home screen and allows me to call an Android activity? Thanks!

WiFi not working on one TV but working on the other! (Chromecast with Google TV)

Hi, This is really weird! WiFi was working for months and stopped yesterday on Samsung TV (JS9000) but when tried the same device on my LG C1 TV it worked!

Samsung TV apps are connecting properly, and nVidia shield is connecting properly too on Samsung TV.

So I guess it's not the Samsung TV problem

And not the chromecast problem too? As it worked on my other LG TV!

I reset Chromecast to factory settings with no luck!

P.S. I tried connecting to other router and WiFi line and it didn't connect too!

I'm so confused! Any help?

Thanks

Turning on Android TV projector with phone

I have a Formovie mini projector dice, which works great, but I want to automate turning it on and I can't figure out how.

Because it's meant to use a battery, when the device turns off it stops the WiFi and doesn't receive commands from my phone or automations. This means I can't turn it out remotely.

Now, bluetooth remotes do turn it on.

My question is: Has anyone figured out how to make a device like this turn on without having to use a bluetooth remote? I'm at the point where I'm considering opening up one of the remotes and trying to wire something to it to do the button press remotely.

Minor issues, but no documentation.

Ok, so I've googled repeatedly to no avail, there just doesn't seem to be answers easily available, intentionally or not.

The one that I've been searching for the longest is that the media player app defaults to sorting by date, and defaults to subtitles on, and there doesn't seem to be any way to change it.

And now all of a sudden my youtube app requires an extra step to go into, it pulls up and open or unintstall page every time I click on it.

As I said, it's minor things. I just don't know why they're things at all. Any solutions would be appreciated.

TVquickactions question

Ok so does TQA require the accessibility service to be enabled for the app to run. I suspect it does. So if it does does the enabled service remain on after TV is turned off and then on again. Other button mappers need to have the service reenabled every time the TV is powercycled. TV is TCL c825 running ATV 11. I'm new to ATV and can't work out how to ensure the service is enabled when the set turns on.

Adoptable storage

Got the Walmart Onn android TV box. Followed troypoint tutorials to supercharge it. Got Kodi, ftp server and Zerotier running for remote access and transfer. At first, I did the adoptable storage with a 128GB USB flash drive and was able to write to the drive via ftp. I then tried a 256GB USB drive and was not able to write to it via ftp like I had with the flash drive attached.

Suggestions?

Update: it was a problem with the USB enclosure. Used a a different one and was able to write to it like the USB flash drive setup.

Ads on Shield

I'm considering a Shield Pro, as my older (2016) Bravia really sucks now: sub-standard performance, buggy, etc. I realize it's underpowered, so I'm looking to get something more responsive and doesn't force me to make sure only one app is running at a time in order for it to perform properly.

However, I'm seeing a lot of complaints on Amazon about ads that appeared on their Shield home screen around June of 2021.

How bad is this, and is there a way around it?

Edit: Sorry for asking a legitimate question. Thanks to everyone that replied. Sorry you were all downvoted for answering a legitimate question and trying to help someone out. People on this sub are really something.

Looking for advice - I need a streaming box for which I can completely disable Bluetooth and WiFi

I cannot have Wifi, Bluetooth or even cell phone in my house. I have wired Ethernet. I am looking for a streaming box for Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, etc. I tried a Roku, but even with the IR remote, the Bluetooth still broadcasts occasionally. Any thoughts?
