How to use External Storage on a Google TV?

by moebuntu2014

Hello Reddit.

I just bought a Google TV/Chrome Cast at Walmart. I plutged in a USB C to USB 3 adapter and then a controler and a USB 2.0 Stick. It is running Android 10 and it is not rooted.

I have a 16 GB USB stick. I pluged it in and asked to format it. I let the system do it and it did not work. Instead of getting the traditonal storeage option I got this secure android crap. Like the shit Nox does on the Galaxy tablets and phones that no one likes. It keeps only making the GPT secure garbage that I do not want. I have an Onn andrid tablet and a HP tablet. Both allow for apps on SD card with dev mode turned on. Yet each time the dam USB is entered it has to do the secure bullshit. It is hard to even find documentation. The fiew file partaion apps need root. I pluged in the USB drive, but Gparted could not reconsize the android file system.

chromecast with google tv only accepts certain types of USB C HUBs not ant brand will work . I'm using Anker which has proven to work with it .

When you format the USB stick as internal storage it will work only for that device and nothing else will be able to see its content except of course the device.

Go to YouTube look at Troypoint Fat 32 video. It will show you how to erase stick and setup to Fat 32. Then look at Troypointt video on the onn streaming box how to supercharge your onn streaming box with commands. You should be good to go.Then plug it into you device, shield, onn box. It worked for me. Let me know if it worked out for you.
