Looks like I'll need an Android TV for Disney+

I'm in Canada.

Anybody know of an ebay seller that sells the real AndroidTV Mi Box? I bought one years ago (which is now being used on my parents TV), and so I need another one for my own TV.

The Nvidia Shield is too expensive at $229 Canadian...

help choosing a 4k passthrough capable box

Hi, this may seem like a stupid question, but I have MKV files which are 4k and have dolby atmos sound. I have an atmos capable yamaha receiver. Is there a box out there that is powerful/clever enough to play such large mkv files and maybe even support atmos sound?

Thanks in advance people.

About psp emulation on mibox 3 & 3S

Shortly after buying a mibox of course I tried psp emulation performance, saw that it was sub par, and basically never touched it again.

I have just recently found out that it can emulate less than 60 fps games just fine.

Here is a list of 20,30 fps games for psp. (There might be more)

PPSSPP Forums

List includes; Metal gear solid, Ace combat, Tony Hawk's undergound

Thought that some people might want to know.

(60fps 2D games are generally fine as well.)

Input lag when using Alexa remote with Mi Box

Hey all,

I picked up an Alexa remote to use with my Mi Box since it has IR volume control. In order to get it working, I had to pair it with a fire stick, configure the remote, then pair it with my mi box. It connects and recognizes the remote and most things work right away.

Major issue was that the center buttons on the alexa remote is NUMPAD_ENTER (keycode 160) whereas on the mi box remote it's DPAD_CENTER. It's basically unusable until the you resolve this because the mi box OS doesn't know what to do with NUMPAD_ENTER. So you can't used the button.

No big deal. I download Button Mapper and remapped NUMPAD_ENTER to keycode 23 (DPAD_CENTER) using the keycode service I activated via an adb shell. There are two methods to remapping a key to pass on a keycode in Button Mapper.

Method one needs the keycode service running. Everything works perfectly in this scenario EXCEPT there is 2 seconds of lag when you push the button before anything happens on the screen.

Method two doesn't need the keycode service running (not sure how it does this?) and there is NO LAG between press and action. BUT, you can't use the onscreen keyboard when this method is employed. It just blinks when you try to input a letter. If you do it enough, the entire OS locks up and needs to be rebooted.

Very strange. Does anyone have any ideas?

I think the solution lies in the method that does not require the keycode service to run. There is no lag using that method. I just can't figure out why you can't type using the on-screen keyboard.

Thank you in advance!

Paging /u/flar2.

Android TV that supports TRUEHD ( pass through, apart from Nvidia Shield?

So my TV has a roku built in which I'm extremely happy with. The only limitation is that, the Plex app can not pass True HD to my receiver via Arc.

From my research Nvidia shield directly plugged into my receiver can do it.

But Im not gonna use Shiled for anything else, like gaming and the 180 usd is a bit overkill.

Any other alternative? Does Mi Box support audio passthrough?

ATV remote with IR volume?

Hey all,

I need a bluetooth remote for my Mi Box that has an IR volume control that can be programmed to match my TV.

The default remote volume buttons control the internal android volume setting, which is completely useless given that this is a STB for a TV. The box itself should not have an adjustable volume.

Alas, it does, and it requires me to have both my TV remote and Mi Box remote at hand.

HDMI CEC as it's implemented by Xaomi does not help in this situation. I don't want to use my TV remote (which is IR) with my android box because a bluetooth remote control is superior.

I just need a bluetooth remote that has a programmable IR volume control.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Is there a way to rotate display(Reverse Landscape)(MiBox)

Hey. Im using Xiaomi's MiBox S(Android TV 8.1). Love that device, but recently I moved to a new flat, and need to have my TV mounted upside down. And that became a huge problem, because there is no option to flip the screen in both android nor TV settings.\

I have tried about 5 "rotation control" apps, and some of them let me change to portrait, reverse portrait even, but the one i want(reverse landscape) never works.

Can anyone help me find a solution to this problem?

PS. Ill try editing the build.prop, but that needs to wait till i get usb cable to connect the box to the pc.

Menu lag / streaming lag

Hi. I have a ATV box. Browsing menu lags slightly. Watching some streaming apps is horrible. Lags every 10 seconds. I have been experiencing this with some apps that can control the ATV box remotely, but I have uninstalled them. I am also thinking that it can have something to do with the resolution/HZ.

Does anyone have some tips and tricks? Factory reset on Android TV sucks since they have no easy backup function.

Netflix errors on Philips Android TV

I constantly get -118 and -100 errors on my Philips android TV and I need to restart from menu to get Netflix to launch or start playing.

Lately, it has gotten to the point where soft reset doesnt help so I need to plug out the power cable and plug back in.

Netflix customer service walked me through the usual troubleshooting steps and told me to call TV manufacturer which fills me up with rage. Because it's clearly their app having issue with android.

Anyone else have the same issue or maybe a magical solution before I factory reset?

Picture pauses for a bit on all streaming apps

I have a Sony XBR-85X850G running the May 2019 update firmware 6.2510 (the latest version).

For a little over a month now, when I watch contents on either the ESPN app, Netflix or HBO Now, or sling TV, the picture pauses for about 1 to 3 seconds (the sound keeps playing) and resumes playing by itself.

It happens randomly and mostly after it's been playing for at least 10-15 mins.

I have contacted Sony, Netflix and ESPN. And based on their advice and what I have read online, I have reset my router, power reset my TV, cleared the cache, data, uninstalled and reinstalled those apps. I have even factory reset my TV.

However, the problem still persists.

The TV is connected via Wi-Fi. The router is right next to my TV. My internet speed is 1 gbps. Plugging it via an ethernet cable doesn't solve the issue. Quite frankly, I don't have a network issue.

I'm running out of options and having a video pausing randomly out of nowhere when I watch something gets on my nerves.

I never had any problem like this on any other brands of TV. This is my first Sony TV. And quite frankly, it's really crappy. Can't stream any videos without the picture freezing.

Thank God I have my Roku Streaming Stick+. The apps work flawlessly on it. Now, I'm just streaming on my roku.

Please provide some help!

Has anyone gone through this and fixed it?

Suggestions to fix this problem are more than welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Unable to use remote control keyboard pop up on Sony X900E

I'm really at a loss at this point. I have an X900E TV that used to have a function to type in a keyboard from the remote control. I changed the password for my Google account and that prompted my TV to ask me to sign in again. When I got to the prompt to enter the password the TV told me to "Use your mobile device keyboard".

So I use the remote control on my phone (which I never use and don't really plan on using) and this app won't even let me type anything! I select the keyboard option and absolutely nothing pops up on the screen.

I google the problem and it tells me to go to Settings->System Preferences->Keyboard on the TV and to select "Current Keyboard" and change that to some different type. The problem is that there are no options whatsoever under Current Keyboard. It's just completely empty. See this:

https://imgur.com/a/kaDnRkx

If you look at the "Manage Keyboards" section the Gboard and the Virtual Remote Keyboard are greyed out, with the latter being permanently enabled. I can't do a damn thing about it here apparently.

Luckily I had a USB keyboard laying around and, feeling like we've taken steps back a few decades in order to be "connected" to every device we own and like a neanderthal, I enter the new password with this keyboard.

The problem is I don't want to have to use a physical keyboard to enter things into my TV! Reasonable request right?

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm at my wit's end to be honest. This is beyond ridiculous.
