Hi. I have a ATV box. Browsing menu lags slightly. Watching some streaming apps is horrible. Lags every 10 seconds. I have been experiencing this with some apps that can control the ATV box remotely, but I have uninstalled them. I am also thinking that it can have something to do with the resolution/HZ.
Does anyone have some tips and tricks? Factory reset on Android TV sucks since they have no easy backup function.
Settings developer options and tweak some things:Window animation Scale 0.5x, Transition animation scale off, Animator duration scale 0.5x Force GPU rendering ON, Show all ANRs (app not responding dialog if some apps lags behind the scenes) and Background process limit set to 4 if your device has less than 2GB RAM.
Now days Android TV is very optimized especially if it is using a reference hardware (hardware recommend it by Google) like Shield TV, Xiaomi Mi Box 3, Mi Box 4 for the Android TV. If your device has less than 2GB no lack. Also disable Settings Home Screen video and audio previews for the home screen channels. Check your side loaded apps too. Uninstall them. You can download 2 apps from official ATV store 1) "tvmemorycleaner" and "play services info" to manually force update Google services. Delete your Google account, clear cache, restart and sign in again. Good luck.
