Need help with Casting Netflix to MiTV 4A Pro 43 inch.

I have a Xiaomi Mi TV 4A Pro 43 inch smart TV. It runs Android TV and came with Chromecast built-in. When I click the cast button on the Netflix app for iOS, I'm able to see my TV, but it always fails to connect. Can anyone help me out with this or if there's a way for me to install the TV version of Netflix on my Mi TV?

KM3 trumps Mi Box

I had the MI Box and besides the Netflix being in HD the KM3 from Mecool is tons better.

A. Has a sideloaded app browser preinstalled

B. Has 4 GB of memory instead of the 2 MI Box has making streaming high quality content smoother and load times shorter when more than 1 app is running

C. Has 53 GB of storage to play around with instead of the 5 the Mi Box has.

D. It's got newer hardware

E. Km3 is preloaded with Android 9.0 while the Mi Box is only upgradeable to 8.0

F. It has 3 USB ports one of which is a USB C and the others a standard 2.0.

Sure the KM3 is not a shield but it is tons closer to it than the Mi Box and Jetstream. Some will view the lack of HD in Netflix a detriment but if you use Kodi you could get those same movies and shows in HD so it's not a concern. Another issue is the lack of updates as Mecool is relatively new and there is a question if they will update the system but since it is at 9.0 already it safe to say you can use this for a few years and everything will run and then upgrade once it slows.

Another negative is the cost which some will say you might as well get the shield which while true for those on a semi budget this km3 will be great for watching 4k movies and streaming Hulu.

Stuttering sound and no subtitles since last update

Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I watched a 4K copy of 'Ralph breaks the internet' which worked perfectly. After watching the movie, our television (Sony Bravia A8F) asked for an update of Android TV.

Afterwards the TV worked a bit funky (wouldn't turn on at first and would display a television channel in the corners while using the usb with the 4K movies). After turning it off and on again and removing the usb once more, it works.

Strangely enough, some of the 4K movies have stuttering sound (including 'Ralph breaks the internet') and would not add any subtitles (which were there before, because we always use English subtitles. Now, if there is a subtitle it is always English or nothing). When a subtitle does appear it is always within a black box (so white on black). Before it used to be just white subtitles on the movie itself.

Does anyone have an idea?

Add YTTV On Nvidia Shield To Alarm Clock Routine

I'd like to automate my morning TV experience by having my TV turn on (CEC wake with Shield) and play a DVR'd episode as a step in some sort of, automated routine. I have an army of Google devices, I just have been unable to locate any information as to how to do this, or if it's already an IFTTT task? Any help appreciated!

JBL Link Bar stops responding to “Hey Google”

I bought a new JBL Link Bar — a soundbar with Android TV and Google Assistant built-in — and I’ve gotta say it has been a very frustrating experience.

Anytime the device restarts (e.g. after a system update), it no longer responds to voice commands. The only way I’ve discovered that fixes this is to factory reset the device.

When I open Google Home after a restart, I notice that there are multiple linked devices for the same Link Bar — only all but one are “ghost” devices from the previous times I’ve had to factory reset.

Apparently each time I’ve factory reset the device, the old profile persists as a ghost device. I can unlink these ghost devices, but they always reappear after a restart. I unlink them again, but it doesn’t fix it.

I’m pretty sure the ghost profile thing is causing the problem, but I don’t know how to fix it.

Things I’ve tried

  • Factory reset: only works into the next restart, then the voice activation breaks
  • Signing out of the Link Bar and signing back in
  • Deleting my “Home” in the Google Home app, unlinking the Link Bar and the ghost devices, then creating a new home (with a different name)
  • Doing all of the above in various orders

Nothing works. I’m at my wit’s end.

Any suggestions?

How to downgrade pre-installed netflix app on mi box?

Hi, I accidentally update my mi box to oreo 8.1 (previously 8.0). I use Nord VPN to access netflix and I'm aware that it doesn't work on Netflix v6 and only work on Netflix v5. Since I upgraded to Oreo 8.1 I could not downgrade my netflix to v5 becaause after the update it becomes v6 by default and is now the lowest version that I can downgrade to. I could not over-write it using manual installation from Netflix v5 apk files. Is there any way to downgrade my netflix app from v6 to v5?

PlayStation Vue TV streaming quality

I tried using the PS Vue Android TV app on a MiBox S about a month or month and a half ago. The app was ok generally and occasionally glitchy, but the streaming quality was noticably choppy/glitchy. I had tested Vue TV for a week about a year prior and did not experience the streaming issues we experienced recently.

I was testing out PS Vue alongside YouTubeTV, as my wife and I decided we were cutting the cord one way or the other. The Vue guide is still far superior to YouTubeTV, but picture quality was simply not tolerable. YouTubeTV streaming was seamless using the same box and internet stream.

Has streaming quality issue been resolved/improved with recent updates? Wife and I are currently using YouTubeTV as a best worst option, but would definitely move to PS Vue if the streaming quality issues have been fixed. I just don't want to pay $50 for a month of Vue TV to find out it's still not streaming properly.

Any experiences or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Mi Box suitable for these tasks?

Hey everyone, ahead of anything I want to thank any responders for their time and knowledge. thanks!

I am looking to buy a device to replace a dead WDLiveHub.

The primary functionality\use cases are: HDMI output Sideload content\LAN stream through USB or router YouTube

Things that are not especially important but nice to have: Streaming service support (Netflix etc) Peripheral support (keyboard? Touchpad? Drawing tablet?) Additional audio outs (surround sound)

Things I dont need: Gaming power Screen casting

The WDLiveHub we had lasted a long long time, and while that product still exists I am exploring other options in the same price range (under 150 USD). Again, thanks so much for reading and I appreciate any educational or anecdotal responses a lot!

Cheers 🤠🤙

Android TV Losing Sound In Apps

Two Netflix logins?

Am I missing something?

Both my phone and my Sony TV (with Android TV and Chromecast built-in) require me to be signed into their respective Netflix apps. That is two logins.

Since my TV has Chromecast built-in, shouldn't I only need to login to my phone's app? If I had an older TV with a separate Chromecast plugged in, I would only need the one login.

MTV like GIF music video app and AndroidTV HD space

My main question is this: does anyone of you know of a webspace that lists the space per device or TV that offers the AndroidTV system?

WHY i want to know it:
I just published an app called "remember the .GIF" that creates and infinte music-video-like visualization of looped GIF animations. The process is this:

You download the app, there is no GIF image inside.
Within the app, you can download curated GIF packages (average ~90MB).

So, depending on your free smartphone storage, you can download X packages that are all saved to the smartphone.

Would this also work with AndroidTV or is the file system completely different?
Do i even have the rights to write onto the TV or AndroidTV device?

Would be glad if someone of you could test out the app and tell me if it works.

At the moment the only way to bring the GIFs to the television is via Chromecast.

Thanks in advance for your time and support!

You should beable to put any app in picture in picture mode

It annoys me only a few apps support this feature. It should be done more at the OS level and you should beable to force apps. For example, I have a logi circle cam I use for a baby monitor and I'd love to have that in the bottom right of my screen while I watch any other program I want...Netflix, Plex, YouTube TV.
