Title says it all. Currently at work we have built-in Android on the TV, Android 8.0 .. and it's slow. We want to show a webpage that has images, maybe a video..

So my plan is to connect an AndroidTV stick to our TV. TV can be automatically set to start with HDMI1. Can AndroidTV be configured in such a way it automatically opens a webpage after boot?

Just bought a new Mi Stick 4K and set it up on my Samsung smart TV. Everything is working great apart from one thing.

Whenever I switch off the TV with the Mi Stick remote, it will turn back on by itself after 10-20 seconds.

Has anyone experienced the same and found a solution for it?

Hi can anyone help advise any free apps that will allow me to cast Iphone to Mi TV stick 4K?

Google home will not allow to cast, only control the remote.

I tried Apower but it would mirror but then disconnect when trying to play any sort of video - any help would be appreciated!

Just got TiVo Streamer 4K, installed, and paid for Button Mapper. Now I want to map specific buttons to specific YTTV livestreams. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm suspecting it's either a script or an ADB command. But after lots of searching, I still have not found anything. 🤨

Since I have Google Duo on my Onn Uhd box I'd like to add a cam of some type and not sure what a good cheap option would be. I think it would have to be Bluetooth because I don't see another way to connect it.

My tv is a 4-5 year old Samsung with a usb but not sure if I plugged a USB cam in it would work.

Just wondering if usb or Bluetooth would work or which would be a better option.

I read that there recently an unofficial LineageOS release that based off of Android 11 that you can install on the Onn device. I was wondering if the Onn developer would provide any foresight on if we would receive an update with Android 11.

Hi. I often listen to audio through my Sony-brand Android TV, but don’t need the screen to be on. It requires a quick but cumbersome process using the remote control to set it up.

Is there a way I can control it from my phone or laptop over the local network? I need to send the Power On signal plus enable Quick Settings: Picture Off. Oh, and I guess Power Off too some time later.

Which should I go with? The stick or the box? Hesitating for the stick because its only 1 gb ram and guessing might be slow and is 1k cheaper Mi box is 4k Rs and the stick is 3k.

Hello all. Just curious has anyone bought an Android Device that can be connected to a TV that does not have HDMI. It's for older parents, they are not going to upgrade their working large screen TV. Or should I just buy a hdmi to Rca converter box that I see on Amazon, and then plug in a certified Netflix Android box that is listed in this subreddit. Thanks to anyone who does reply.

I have a Sony KD-55X80J Google TV, and when I turn the TV on I see the top line of my apps. The "See All" option is missing and I have to reset from the settings menu and they come back. This used to happen once in a while but now it's every time.

It wouldn't be quite as annoying if when I reordered my apps they stayed that way. But they always get re-ordered with the stock apps at top.

Anyone else having this problem? Any solution besides a factory reset? This seems to have started after the latest software update.

I've seen some people say that they like the Fire TV remote vs a lot of other devices.

On eBay, if you don't need voice, they can be obtained for $5-$7.

I do not believe any of the voice ones will work with Google Assistant but it's a nice backup remote if you barely use voice like myself.

On my Onn 4K Box, every single button worked including Play/Pause and Menu.

I actually must admit, I like it more than the G10 that arrives with the Onn.

Yes you lose voice, but the size and less buttons everywhere on the FTV remote, makes it easier to use it without looking at it.

EDIT: Search eBay or similar sites for "CV98LM" or just "Fire TV Remote". Some voice ones appear but I just got the basic non-voice like the original Fire TV's had before Alexa.

I'm tech savvy, but a newbie in the AndroidTV space. Any information, tips, or help is appreciated.

I recently set up a cheap Blaupunkt AndroidTV that someone gave me last year. After trying out a few things with it like attempting to get Button Mapper to work etc it's started acting up. For instance I was streaming a movie last night and all of a sudden it restarted. When the system came back up the remote was unresponsive. I had to use the buttons on the TV to get it to start responding. It seemed ok after that but this morning it wouldn't turn on via the remote. I'm going to reset it and start from scratch.

But I have a bit of a "what if..." question: what if an Android TV won't turn on at all even after power cycling and all the other hoo-ha so it can be reset through the menu? Is there a way to hard reset them similar to how you reset most phones with a hardware button combo?

I'm having these two situations.

I'm unable to install Retroarch on my Xiaomi Stick TV 4K. I've tried it through Play Store, Aurora Store and Send Files to TV and none of them worked.

Also it looks that this device firmware does not have any aosp stock file manager so I can't grant permission to other file managers and emulators to get full storage access like Android>data folder.

Is there some way for installing it? I tried installing "Files" shortcut apk but it can't find any file manager app to open.

Running Android 9 on a Hisense H8G.

I'm having an issue with the homescreen channels. Starting a few months ago they stopped updating, namely YouTube. I enjoyed having the "Recommended" channel enabled because I watch a lot of YouTube.

I can't get it to recommend me new content at all. It's been stuck on the same 10 recommendations for months. I've tried force stopping the app and reopening, resetting the app entirely, and completely factory resetting my TV. Since factory resetting, the recommended channel is just the recommendations for the non-signed-in account.

It's not just YouTube either. HBO, Netflix, and Crunchyroll all have the same issue. The channels used to update when I would turn on my TV, but now they haven't refreshed for months. Has anybody else had this issue? Were you able to resolve it?

Edit: I managed to get YouTube to refresh once tonight. All I did was start the app, wait a few moments, and then hit the back button until I reached the home screen (NOT the home button). I couldn't get it to do it again though.

Why does Netflix require a special certification for Android devices? allowing them to go above 720p

I was playing around with a custom ROM for Android TV and was installing my streaming apps, when I remembered that Netflix is a special case.

There are tons of streaming apps that does like 4K without needing the android device to be certified (or even paying a different tier🤣)

My understanding, is OEMs are kinda forced to pay and have the app as bloatware, so their users has ability to get HD content.

I'm just curious why would company would handicap their paying customers in the first place? It just pushes people to piracy or join another service in my opinion.

On my Android TV I purchased an app from Google play store.
But then I thought that the app is too expensive for what it does and asked Google to refund me which they did.
My expectation was that after the refund the app will stop working. But it seems that it's still working.
What does it mean?
Am I just lucky and Google has forgotten to disable the app?
Can I continue using it?
