Automation: Remotely power on and enable Picture Off quick-setting

by Aeyoun

Hi. I often listen to audio through my Sony-brand Android TV, but don’t need the screen to be on. It requires a quick but cumbersome process using the remote control to set it up.

Is there a way I can control it from my phone or laptop over the local network? I need to send the Power On signal plus enable Quick Settings: Picture Off. Oh, and I guess Power Off too some time later.

It's a bit of work, but you may be able use Home Assistant to control the TV via phone widgets. HA may be abe to control the TV directly via integration or by sending IR signals. HA can run from a PC or Raspberry Pi.

I use it to turn on the TV, change TV input, change amp input and volume and turn on backlight, triggered by click of widget from phone, for example. HA is great.

There is supposed to be a remote-shortcut to sleep-screen/picture-off screen for Audio-only playback which should be hold [long-press-mute-button] on remote for all AndroidTV's. Try it! Maybe Sony changed that remote programming if it doesn't work.
