Any advice to increase my Xbox Cloud Gaming performance?

by Exciting_Light_1228

First of all excuse me if there are some spelling mistakes, I‘m German. ☺️

I just got my Xbox Ultimate subscription. I usually play on my PC but I always wanted to play on my tv in my living room. So cloud Gaming seems to be the best solution as I just got a 1Gbit/s internet connection. Anyway, I usually use my fire tv stick for things like Netflix or Amazon Prime. But as Xbox cloud gaming isn’t supported, I remembered that I actually have an Android tv box from 2016 with Android 6 and pathetic 1GB of ROM. (Nexbox A95X)

Despite the lack of ROM it seems to be a good solution as it has 2 USB-Ports for controllers, a LAN-Port and a HDMI-connection. So I proceeded to get rid of ALL unnecessary applications and services so the only thing running on my device is the XBOX Gamepass application. Sometimes it actually works quite good but usually the app crashes after selecting a game in the start menu. Do you have any advice to improve the performance? Are custom ROMs for my device secure? Best regards and thanks already😉

xCloud gaming doesn't work great on any Android or other TV devices besides than the new Samsung TV's. I am sure it will come to Android TV eventually, but for now the only decent option in your case will be to plug your computer into the TV. Also, if you aren't near an Azure data center, it doesn't matter what you do-xCloud will not be a very good experience until Microsoft ups their infrastructure.

I have ONN 4k Android TV Box and when I side-loaded the app from apkmirror.com , it was laggy, game freezes, audio was choppy, and input lag. However, I found out a French dev was recreating Game Pass app for his Shield TV. I decided to give it a try. All the issues that I had before was gone. The app is very optimize for Android TV that even my ONN 4k Android TV Box was able to run it smoothly.

Here is the link to his xcloud app apk: https://github.com/mistertest/xcloud-shield

Definitely give this a try and see if it works for you. However, I must add that my ONN 4k Android TV Box has a setup that also contribute to smooth and convenience gameplay.

My ONN Setup: Micro USB Hub Adaptor with Power, 32MB USB Stick (all apps that can be migrated will be here), a USB to Ethernet Adapter (UE306), and a keyboard + mouse combo.

How about Geforce Now game streaming service from NVIDIA? It is now officially supported on Android TV/Google TV platform and is available from Google Play Store for Android TV/Google TV

You can actually use an Android TV browser, although you'll probably have to go through a lot of them to find out which works best with your device.
