How come the Live Channels app from Android TV has not been ported over to the Google TV platform? I like the UI on Google TV better than Android TV, but I use HD HomeRun networked TV tuners and the Live Channels app is awesome for secondary tv's like in my bedroom or garage.

I want to remap the YT button (for ad free YT) And the rec button (for plex) I downloaded button remapper app (enabled it in accessibility)

And it working kind of Only the double tap is working Single tap and long tap still sent me to the original button destination (even tho I changed it)

I even donated to the app to open all features Any help?

I'm upgrading phones soon. I have a note 10 with a cracked screen. I love the phone and don't want to shove it in a drawer and never use it. The chip it has is still pretty great and storage is decent. I had an idea to turn it into a more powerful version of the new chromecast. I have a powered USB C to HDMI adapter and can run dex with a wireless keyboard but I'd prefer it if I could have a more tv instead of pc-like experience.

I installed the APK of android tv but it kind of crapped out. I then tried to use another tv launcher and a chromecast remote which is fairly okay but no apps are optimized for a tv experience. I tried downloading the netflix tv apk designed for the tv but my phone won't install it. Is this a dead dream? How can I create my snapdragon powered android tv experience? Any advice would be much appreciated.

The new Apple TV can do YouTube at 4K 60 along with the iPad Pro, was wondering if the update for android tv has been released? I have an x950g so I’m pretty sure it can handle it.

Anyone able to get the Bell Fibe TV to work on Android Box? I’ve tried two different ones, one on android 9 one android 10. Installs fine, when I go to watch a channel I get a HDCP error.

I've been using a Samsung/AppleTV combo for five years, it's reliable, fast enough and a great UI. Now it's finally time to upgrade to 4K. Was almost gonna go with a new Samsung/ATV4K combo, but now I am very curious about Android TVs, as there seems to be a lot of TVs with Android built in. Looking at a 2021 model from one of the top six leading brands, don't need top of the line, but I can afford whatever I want.

My past encounters with Android TVs have always been a sluggish and awkward UI, with limited configuration options, which almost never gets updates, so I'm still very wary. Can anyone convince me to make the jump?

• Which brands are best at updating their firmware regularly?

• Which brands have a fast, or the best, UI?

• Which brands have no ads, or ads that can be switched off?

• Any major brands to avoid?

• Can I install/sideload YouTube Vanced or SmartTubeNext on any Android smart TV? I want a completely ad-free experience on YouTube as it has too many ads these days (we can't get YT Premium in this country).

Is there a way to launch SmartYoutube Next with voice commands? I've tried "open youtube next" but it doesnt understand. The original youtube app is disabled.

Its for my mother, she just clicks the remote and shouts "open youtube" but the ads are a pain.

Anyone know if there’s a way for recommended videos to update automatically and not show videos you have already watched?

I recently got myself a XGIMI Mogo Pro and to my delight, Nordvpn was avaliable as an app.
No more fiddling about with VPN hotspots connected to my wifi to be able to enjoy streamed content from all over the world.. or so I thought.

After updating my Mogo Pro I could not get the app to connect to any servers. I managed to log in without a problem and I could see all the servers but when ever I tried connecting the app would just sit there for ever trying to connect.

What you need to do to fix this is the following:

Step 1: Update your device to the newest version.
Step 2: Settings>All Settings>Device Preferences>Security & restrictions>Unknown sources.
Step 3: Inside Unknown sources you will see a few options, Nordvpn being one of them.
Step 4: Enable Unknown sources permission for Nordvpn and restart your device.

You should now be able to connect to a server properly through the app.
Enjoy being able to stream content freely.

Anyway to listen to dolby atmos music within CCWGTV yet? Ive tried tidal and it doesnt seem to work for whatever reason. I know apple music will be supporting it soon. I just want to listen to some music in Dolby Atmos to experience it once just to hear how it is. I have my CCWGTV plugged directly into my atmos capable AVR.

I have a Mi Box S that I mostly use to watch anime on, I've been doing fine with VLC but it can't seem to handle subtitles that well. I tried Kodi, and while subtitles are better, video seeking ruins the playback and it just straight out becomes buggy. My media is stored in an external USB 3.0 HDD that I simply connect to the Mi Box S.

I know that the Mi Box S is an old device but which app would give me the best video playback that can also handle anime subtitles? (signs and songs that are well-blended to the media) Since I don't have much of a choice regarding what Android TV device I can use.

I bought a cheap 4k UHD android tv from a local company which supports HDR. But, whenever I watch any HDR movies on it, the screen becomes really dark and unwatchable on daytime. But if I watch the movie with HDR turned off, the color looks washed out and the same movies 1080p non HDR version even looks better. Is there any way to fix it? I generally use mxplayer or vlc to play videoes on my Android TV

I use "my media one" app for TV. Was working fine, changed channels and then no sound. And no sound on any channel. I checked all the basic stuff. And sound comes thru on the other apps. Any ideas?

Since the last update a week or so ago on the Sony Android TVOS (and Play Store upgrade from Kodi Matrix 19.0 to 19.1) my TV can no longer continuously play most 4K content in Kodi. I get better luck with VLC but even it had freeze-up's which is one reason I am starting to think its not Kodi (I had originally assumed they did something from Matrix 19.0 to 19.1 that updated about the same time).

It has worked flawlessly since I got it 5 months ago never freezing once and nothing else has changed in my network or with my server (even put some 4k content on another of my servers and same result). I pumped up the readfactor and cachesize in Kodi and it just delays the inevitable freeze up's, just takes longer to freeze up and longer to recover from the freeze as it refills the cache.

Its not a bottleneck in my network or server (checked) and am aware that the Sony 950H TVs only have a 100mbps hardwired (and I am setup hardwired). I was willing to just go Kodi's fault but when I had the same problem (but not near as bad) when I tried the same content on VLC I'm starting to think its Android 9.0.

Is anyone aware of any overhead / resource increases or known problems slowing TVOS apps down, particularly Kodi?
