So i have a sony android TV. And all of the apps are forced to run in 1080p resolution/interface. Is there a way to run them in 4K via abd command or something. And if there is what would be the way to revert back to default incase something breaks.

Hi, I've a Philips android tv and lately dunno why YouTube doesn't play some videos in 4k even they have the tag 4k in the banner.

I believe SmartTubeNext (blue "S" app icon) is the successor to what I previously used SmartYouTubeTv (red "S" icon).

Anyways as of this morning the SmartTubeNext isn't playing videos. Everything loads up fine, you can search etc, but when clicking to play a video it just stays black.

Anyone have input?

Hey. So I installed the Google TV Launcher into my Android TV (Xiaomi Mi Box S). Everything works fine, except the "Home" Tab. It says Loading Error. Unable to load Home. I tried a vpn, but it doesn't work either, because I can't even sideload the VPN app. Any solutions to resolve this please :))

In my Mi TV 4X, the video gets crashed and pixelated while watching youtube live videos.

Anyone has faced this issue before and is there any solution for that?

I'm seriously considering the Google TV Chromecast, and every Google search confirms AppleTV+ is currently available but I don't see it shown in the features page in the Google Store and I can't find it in the Play store (searching from a Pixelbook). I'd like to nvidia gamestream 4k @ 120hz to my LG oled.

I'm currently able to do 4k @ 90hz HDR with the homebrew Moonlight TV app. I'm also able to do 4k 120hz over WI-FI on the Samsung Tab S7+.

I think the TV processor isn't strong enough & am hoping to find something more powerful to get me to the 120hz mark.

Google seems to only show me results for how to mirror my Android tablet on my TV (Sony Bravia), but I need to do the other way around.

Can someone help me?

Is it possible to change location in smart tube next? Currently it is not showing local news content in the news section which the standard youtube app or smart youtube does.

I have a mac mini that shares a handful of drives via smb. I can access these drives accross the network on other devices, but my shield pro is refusing to connect to them. I have been trying to access via Kodi (these drives have all my media on them) but I haven't got anywhere so tried to access via X-Plore File Manager.

X-plore finds the Mac when scanning for drives, but I get different errors depending on which settings I use. I get authentication failed for Guest if I leave the login/pw blank with SMB2 enabled. I get "This Client does not support the negotiated dialect" If I leave the login/pw blabk and switch SMB2 off. And if I enter the username+pw I get "STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED" with SMB2 enabled or not.

As I mentioned before, I can access this share via other devices without an issue. I can't add NFS shares due to the drives being a mix of ExFAT, NTFS and HFS+.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I’m trying to decide between a Samsung Smart TV or TCL Android TV - the TCL is QLED, so better quality than the LED Samsung I’m looking at, however Samsung is winning me over with the Ambient mode feature. I’m not very familiar with Android products, so trying to find out if there’s an app I could download to the Android TV that would give a similar result. Can anyone help?

I recently download Apple TV app on Android TV on MiTV stick. And I explore the interface and it look awesome with gorgeous thumbnail and smooth UI. I really like the design of the TV interface. Apple TV Movies supposed to have Extras (Bonus Features) for each movie to own. But when I select a movie, I only see the trailers no extra features like you really see on DVD and Blu-ray in the past. Are there other Android TV devices or Google tv that have iTunes Extras on Apple tv movies/tv?

I have a Philco androidTV at home, with both echo and google nest devices, but none can turn it off. Not even with my Google Home app (neither on Pixel nor iPhone) can I turn it off. the Nest Mini also can't.

Is there any way to turn off an AndroidTV with google home/nest?

When WW84 became available to rent on Google TV, I figured I could wait a little while for the price to drop. When I checked back a month later, it wasn't available to rent. (I know it's available to rent from other services, but I have some Google TV credits I'd like to use.)

Does anyone know how long are movie titles available for rent on Google TV? I'm asking in general, but maybe specifically for movies that will end up on an subscription service, like HBO Max or Disney+.

I use ButtonMapper which is GREAT. But:

Some buttons are not recognized. Especially when I move the left/right analog stick in any direction. I get nothing. I really need those. In Kodi for example it works without any issues.

Is there any solution? With or without ButtonMapper.

I've redownloaded both and restated my shield TV pro and neither apps are working.Am the only one having this issue?

We all love the Shield TV for how powerful its CPU and GPU capabilities are but what I find really lacking is the RAM. 3GB RAM is fine for basic or powerful single app usage but the issue is it doesn't retain apps in the background if you run any RAM heavy app/game.

I use Kodi, YouTube, Netflix a lot and it barely keeps all 3 in the background which means they are restarted all the time for such a powerful device and if you play any game, it pretty much kills all the apps in the background due to "paltry" 3GB RAM.

Is there any other reliable Android TV device which has more RAM than the Shield TV so atleast few apps can remain in background? (I couldn't find any :( )

I really wish they upped the RAM in 2019 Shield Pro.
