Device with more RAM than Shield TV?

by ProgrammerPlus

We all love the Shield TV for how powerful its CPU and GPU capabilities are but what I find really lacking is the RAM. 3GB RAM is fine for basic or powerful single app usage but the issue is it doesn't retain apps in the background if you run any RAM heavy app/game.

I use Kodi, YouTube, Netflix a lot and it barely keeps all 3 in the background which means they are restarted all the time for such a powerful device and if you play any game, it pretty much kills all the apps in the background due to "paltry" 3GB RAM.

Is there any other reliable Android TV device which has more RAM than the Shield TV so atleast few apps can remain in background? (I couldn't find any :( )

I really wish they upped the RAM in 2019 Shield Pro.

3gb is still a lot for a TV device. I'm sure there are devices from the generic box world that have more but of course they will come with their own issues.

MeCool KM6 Deluxe, but I wouldn't replace the Shield with it (especially when Netflix is a priority).

What kind of multitasking are you really doing on an Android TV device.. I mean typically all you're doing. Is watching media,. That's the whole purpose of the device.

There are boxes from MECOOL with 4gb of ram, but you wont have better experience than with shield. 3GB is considered to be a generous amount of ram in android tv device. Majority have only 2gb..

I have a km6 deluxe (4gb) and I like it just fine but I don't think it's gonna replace anyones shield. It's better than the mibox s though.

Don't restart. Press home twice and close app. And if you sell the shield, how much lol
