Button Mapper breaks Volume Buttons (+/–). Has anyone found a solution?

by Indira-Gandhi

After turning Button Mapper on, volume button (+/–) long press does not work. Pressing it only increases volume by single increments.

Even if Mapper is only given accessibility permissions and NO button is yet modified, this still happens. So I think this might be a deeper problem.

Same problem discussed before here.

I actually left a review on the play store once and mentioned this, and they responded and basically said that's the intended functionality, although didn't explain why

hello from Greece! (HELLAS)only SOLUTION seems to be by activating "bypass" any apps which VOLUMES keys is needed!we must go to ButtonMapper app settings here:\more options\bypass appsturn on the switch in APPS like:mx player or vlc & iptv player or cinemahd, cyberflix etc & LIVE tv of course for terrestrial, cable or satellite channelsi tested & it works for XIAOMI p1 television

Long pressed works fine for me (assuming you're using the long press to increase/decrease volume - ie Android default?).

  • Button Mapper is set up with all the required permissions
  • Long press action is set to "default"
  • Volume panel bypass is enabled
  • Long press delay is set to 400ms
  • Double tap delay is set to 300ms
  • Wait for double tap is enabled

I've also disabled Button Mapper in several apps where I don't need it and it can interfere, such as YouTube.

Are you using IR or CEC?

I've set the remote to control my receiver volume through IR method, long pressing seems to work fine.

Old post, but thought to share what they replied to me today regarding this issue. It's Android TV related as they said. When accessibility is enabled, Android TV decides to disable the long press on Volume. The CH+/- seem to still work. As they said, there nothing can be done from 3rd party apps. Dunno how accurate this is, but that's the latest.

still the same issue in 2022!
