Use the on screen menu and change the resolution.
That problem is still present?, I thought it was fixed, I've been testing several live streams and I haven't seen the problem anymore.
Did you update the app to the latest version?
Try clearing cache and data of the YouTube app and try again.
Even the Mi TV does that.
Have this problem since 6 months and still not fixed by xiaomi.
My mecool km2, firetvsticks and mitvstick are not doing this, it is only appearing on the mibox s and it is now on nearly all the live you tube streams I try to watch.

That happened to me. I just cleared the application data and it started working fine.

Clearing data and cache doesn't do anything. The last update didn't fix it either. There are only two possible "solutions": rewind the live stream from the start or use SmartTubeNext

me too. Same problem Jan 2021 to Aug 2021. Ther is no official update from Google or Mi about this issue. Really bad !!
I’m using Chromecast with Google TV and also experiencing the same issue on Youtube Videos with vp9 codec.
Yeah, get a better box like NVidia shield
Press back - go to YouTube home & again play that video again && it'll be 100% playable ... I am doing this "Thing" for this bug for months .
