Why is it that you can't install prime video from the play store on a phillips android tv 5504 series, the apk I installed keeps starts then stops all videos.

I've got a Mi Box 4K recently. I'm not sure how do I shutdown or power it off. There's a power button on the Mi Remote. From what I read on the internet, it puts the device to sleep. Long pressing the power buttons brings up Restart and Screenshot options only.

Currently, I press the power button on the remote, once the screen goes black, I turn off the adapter plug. Is this the only and correct way to power off this device? I can't keep the device plugged in all the time when not in use.

So I was wondering if there's any restriction with Android TV OS regarding Aspect Ratio Control. For example, Many movies and series have black bars on Netflix/ Prime video and some users would want to zoom or stretch it to fill the screen. The Android TV I have disables that feature in TV and works only for HDMI inputs. Can anyone confirm if it works for them in any Android TV.

Hello, I have a mi box 3 and I am connected to a public network. This causes some inconvenience like the fact that anyone can cast music or video. So I would have a question is it possible to deactivate the fact of being able to cast on the mi box 3

So I have this telly a week. Love it

This evening it's frozen. On the remote the settings button works (brings up settings menu) but that's it. I can't hit left or right or anything.

Before it froze I think I enable a Bluetooth setting and then this.

Everything online says need to get into settings to reset but I can't.

I've tried an android remote on my phone, connects but nothing. Is there a pin hole reset or something I don't know about?

I recently bought a Xiaomi Compact Projector. So far I am very pleased with the projector itself, but I'm having some issues with Android TV 9.

-My phone does not allow me to cast, it does not find the device (redmi note 9)

-Some applications that are installed do not appear anywhere but in the play store, so I'm unable to open them

-No prime video (I think this can be bypassed using "Kodi" or something like this)

-No "qwerty" keyboard

-No bluetooth settings to check remote battery status (not really that important, but I read that this feature is included)

-No "sleep" featurre

Do you guys know of these issues and how to solve them?

I've just bought an Xiaomi Mi stick and installed Kodi on it. I'm trying to stream my movies from my NAS but ever 10 seconds or so it needs to buffer. I've tried to connect through both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz but they both work bad. It's not problem to stream the same mcoies through wifi on my computer. In my living room I have an Nvidia shield at that works great, also through wifi. Is the Mi stick too slow for Kodi and 1080p movies?

Just ordered Android TV device. I need few suggestions for apps

1. File Manager I need to transfer videos etc and also transfer apks to sideload them from my android phone and sometimes from my pc . Heared Solid Explorer does a good job. Any other suggestions are welcome.

2. Mod APK Market. Aptoid tv is suggested in other posts. Any other suggestions are welcome.

3. App to play movies stored in my android or pc without transfering them to the tv. I have heard apps like kodi, stremio, plex etc can do it. But im a noob. So suggest me something easy to get start with.

5. Android Tv remote app for my phone. I need this to type stuffs in tv. Official one got feedback that it doesn't work properly now. Also an app acting as game controller for playing games.

Hi all. Would appreciate some help on this. I'm looking for an Android box which runs the Android TV OS. I've found the Xiaomi Mi Box S and the Nvidia Shield on Google's official Android TV website. I find the Nvidia Shield to be quite expensive and Xiaomi's box is underpowered at just 2GB RAM and only 8GB of ROM.

I have a bunch of cheap Chinese android boxes and I find the H96 Max+ to be quite good, but would just prefer to run the official OS rather than dodgy, unupgradeable MediaTek chips.

Anybody know of devices other than the above and where I might get them? Thanks.

I can only watch 1080p movies from a thumb drive as it stands as any 4K .mkv file is just too large.

Is there a way I can trick Android TV to accept ExfAT or NTFS ?

For whatever reason I can't seem to find a way for large uncompressed game like KOTOR to install directly to my external HDD. Yes, I know it won't fit in the internal space of my TV! I hope to sort that. Yet the TV is expecting me to migrate everything over that is already installed instead of setting the installation path to the HDD. That doesn't really seem to be an option, and I see nothing in the manuel that allows this to be done.

Anyone has any luck with this? Or is it a limitation with the Android TV firmware? It's quite frustrating.

My sound for TNT on my android TV won't work. Can't find a setting to change it, and it has been like this for weeks. I can log in on my phone just fine, but when I open the app on my TV, there is no sound at all. I am trying to watch the Lakers - Nuggets game for reference

Hi guys, anyone knows how can I desactivate the tv speakers? I'm trying to use a home theater via optical audio, but the tv built in speakers keeps sounding. I can't get it to zero beacuse the home theater won't sound.

When I wake my mibox, it briefly shows a webpage of my router login page. idk what app would be doing that and I've never directed it to the address for my router on any browser on the box.

I can't tell if it logged in or what's going on besides that I recognize the page. It disappears in less than a second.

Anyone see this before?

after uninstalling Puffin Browser the issue went away.

I never logged into my router on puffin so I'm not sure why it was trying to reach that page (especially while sleeping). pretty weird.

I'd like to get a shield tv pro for gaming but am holding off to see if we might get a slight price reduction after this new googletv/chromecast upgrade comes out at the end of Sept.

I understand they're different and aimed at different people but this cheaper device might steal some of Nvidia's customers

Do you think Nvidia will have some sales before the end of the year?

I'm looking for something to replace my rpi4+Kodi with an Android TV, to plug behind my videoprojector. I'll only use it as a client for Jellyfin, Plex, Youtube / Peertube and Spotify.

I also discovered that there are some Android TV roms in the wild (Aidan's, atvX, project SLIM) but it seems that they support SoCs instead of boxes themselves. Looks like the S905X is one of the most broadly used in this market, or am I wrong ?

I'd love a rom with very few gapps (just Youtube and Store) and close to pure android. I'm really confident with Android rooting/rom flashing, but I really don't know the ATV world.

So… Could you guys help me with suggestions of boxes and roms ? Also, should I be warned against brands or models that can't be rooted/flashed ?

So finally I tried installing HALanucher and also ATVLancher. Both are working when I open it. I've no idea how to set any of that as my default launcher. YouTube videos said that MiBox will ask to choose a launcher when I press home button. But I tried every button to get that pop up. No way. MiBox is not asking which launcher to choose.

Anyone know what possible valid reason there could be for this? It's not like Google doesn't have access to this through play services anyway. Worse, if you don't enable it, the app refuses to run. Is there a way to bypass this or perhaps a less-intrusive app with similar functionality?

After realising it can't do TrueHD / DTS HD bitstreaming, I wonder if it can do multichannel PCM over HDMI to my AVR?

So I currently have a LG Smart TV. It's good overall but the only problem I have with it is webOS. I'm thinking of buying an Android TV box for it. Also a lot of TV shows are simply not available on Netflix in my country so I use a VPN too. And it's not possible to cast my Netflix connected via VPN to the TV. Also my TV is not receiving any updates. So should I go for it?
