Bit of a pain to direct install large APK files to external HDD of my the Phillips Android TV

by [deleted]

For whatever reason I can't seem to find a way for large uncompressed game like KOTOR to install directly to my external HDD. Yes, I know it won't fit in the internal space of my TV! I hope to sort that. Yet the TV is expecting me to migrate everything over that is already installed instead of setting the installation path to the HDD. That doesn't really seem to be an option, and I see nothing in the manuel that allows this to be done.

Anyone has any luck with this? Or is it a limitation with the Android TV firmware? It's quite frustrating.

Try something like apps2sd

I haven't used an app like that in a very longtime though, like since Android 5.

Try using a file reader app that will access your cloud drive service.

I use X-Plor and Google drive. I upload zips, jpg and other files I want to use on my Android device to my cloud account then use X-Plor to transfer them to my ad card to access them from my Android apps. I keep my Kodi repo zips there and it's a time saver from entering repo sources and transferring picture file I use for backgrounds.

It should automatically install to he external device storage. There is no way to tell the installer where to install the file. It should already know to do it. The drive is formatted as device storage correct?
