Can't disable TCL android tv speakers

by MauriCordoba

Hi guys, anyone knows how can I desactivate the tv speakers? I'm trying to use a home theater via optical audio, but the tv built in speakers keeps sounding. I can't get it to zero beacuse the home theater won't sound.

If the TV has a headphone jack, plugging a cable into the jack will typically disable the built in speakers.

I just turn the volume to zero because my TCL only controls its buildin speaker and not the spdif out volume.

I don't know the answer but I would be checking the options on your TV's Optical Out settings. I would hope 'Passthrough' would be there which means the sound would go from your home theatre and pass through the TV via the optical to your Home Theatre speakers. Good luck.

TCL implementation of androidtv is the worst. Actually, it shows the how many fucks does Google give for androidtv.

I'd recommend using a hdmi cable instead of optical. I faced the same issue myself when i tried optical cable. Though, i experience the same thing even after using hdmi but it goes after playing the tv setting for 5 minutes. :'(

I ran into the same problem on a 55p715. I am waiting for technical support from TCL, meanwhile I connected a mute Bluetooth speaker to fix it but it is a really unsatisfactory experience.

Has anyone found some Android system tips to fix it?

I recently got the TCL 55S434-CA from Best Buy and ran into the same issue. I was trying for a long time to connect my Bose Soundbar 700 and could only get it to play music off of my Spotify, but not any audio from movies or TV. I am connected through an HDMI ARC and found a video that worked for me and I believe it'll work for Optical Audio as well.

If you click on settings on your TCL remote, go to System, T-Link, and turn it on. Make sure Auto Power On and Auto Standby are also turned on. This allows your tv and external speakers to harmonize and turn on/ off together. This is the video that helped me out:

I hope this helps someone else!

Currently experiencing this issue as well on 43p517 TV. Both sounds coming out of the speaker. Got no choice but to set TV speaker the way down to 1. If i put it to 0 there's the mute icon.

I have used other brand TV's and all have had the allowance of being able to turn of the TV speakers, the only way is turning the sound to 0 not good enough
