Chromecast with Google TV live tab through vpn spinning

I'm using a VPN to help with the streaming limitations imposed by my cell provider. It's working well with the exception of the Live Tab on Chromecast with Google TV (CWGT). I've got a subscription to YoutubeTV (YTTV) and that app works great but I can't get the live listing on the main page to work when I have the VPN turned on. I assume it's getting it's information from YTTV.

I use the Windscribe app on CWGT and can exclude applications from going through the VPN but I don't know which ones to pick. It allows me to exclude system applications.

I've tried excluding the YTTV app and it didn't help. I'm connected to a VPN very close to my physical location in Texas.

Any suggestions? Wighout the VPN, I'm limited to 480p resolution. With the VPN, I get the best resolution the application supports so it really makes a difference.

Thanks

google watchlist for seasons not yet released

Hey guys - just recently got myself a chromecast tv, and I was wondering what to do about shows I've partially seen, if that makes any sense.

For example, I love Ozark, and I definitely want to watch the next season when it comes out. If I add it to my watchlist, though, I think the existing seasons will be recommended to me even though I've seen them. Is there a way to tell the algorithim that I've watch some of a show, but not all of it?

2021 Sony TVs offer 80mbps streaming

https://www.whathifi.com/us/news/sony-launches-high-bitrate-bravia-core-film-streaming-service

Quote:

Expect box office and IMAX Enhanced films at 80Mbps.

Sony is launching a high-bitrate video streaming service alongside its 2021 Bravia TVs.

... delivers near-lossless content at an equivalent of up to 80Mbps.

That's far in excess of the 25-30Mbps that other industry players, such as Netflix, operate at with their premium 4K content – meaning undoubtedly high quality pictures but, yes, big internet demand. In fact, to access the highest quality, you'll need a minimum internet speed of 115Mbps.

This is something of a soft launch, however, as Bravia CORE will only be available to owners of the just-launched 2021 Sony Bravia XR TVs, specifically the Z9J, A90J, A80J, X95J and X90J.

Philips tv sound hollow on Disney+?

I have a Philips 4K TV, version 9 (this is the info in the About menu but I'm sure I'll need more specifics). Running Disney+ in its app (i.e. not from Chromecast) through the TV's speakers (i.e. no surround sound or anything), the audio is off, like the characters are stuck in a bottle. Other apps (Netflix/Hulu/PBS Kids/sports streaming) don't seem to have the same problem. This seems to be Disney+ encoding their audio differently than my TV wants to receive it, but I don't know what to do to fix it and taking guesses at the Digital Output setting or messing with the EQ don't seem to help.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Android TV Launcher - missing/strange animation (Android 9, Sony XF9005)

Hey guys, I have a Sony XF9005 running Android 9 and I am facing a strange issue about the stock Android TV Launcher. As you can see on the video when I press the home button on the remote there is 2 second delay between pressing the button and the appearance of the home screen.

I think it should work like when I press the back button to close an application, then the home screen appears with a nice smooth transition without noticeable delay (2nd attempt in the video).

What do you think, is there any kind of solution for this issue? It is really frustrating for me.

Getting my synology ds218+ Nas to work with My Android TV

Hey guys, hope you are well amongst the madness. So I have a ds218+ which has a load of docker images running such as plex and Jellyfin. Now I have been getting choppy playback with anything that is H.265 encoded and h.264 is fine. So looking at the NAS performance it seems it can't cope with it, so I bought and android TV box. How do I get it to do the work rather than the NAS.

Recommandation for 1080p tv - Netflix and similar apps

Hi! I'm searching for a relatively cheap solution for my family. The main purpose is to watch Netflix (and maybe others services like Amazon Prime and Disney Plus). Tv is not smart and limited to 1080p so I don't care about 4K support. I would like an ethernet port for more stability. Any recommandations? Thanks for the help.

The TV connects to my bluetooth headphones even when it's asleep

Hi everyone! I've got an annoying problem: since Mi Box S doesn't fully shutdowns when I press the power button, it continues trying connecting to my headphones (I want to use them both on the TV and other devices) and it's really succeeds in this: in 90% of cases my phone / laptop just doesn't have time to connect to earphones, Mi Box is really fast! Every time this happens, I have to go to the living room and unplug the Mi Box.

My ideas on how to solve the problem :

  1. Always unplug Mi Box. It works, but I need a more elegant solution. Also, I'm not the only one who uses this gadget, so I'll have to make sure that every its user will unplug it every time.
  2. Turn off the bluetooth by special program. It's not really convinient, because the remote controller is also uses bluetooth to connect (however, I could use Android TV Remote control program to interact with TV and turn bluetooth on manually every time, but that's very complicated)
  3. Turn off bluetooth automatically when the device wakes up? (I could write such an application, but I don't know where to start and if it's even possible given the Android security constraints)
  4. Remove the earphones from bluetooth devices list (quite inconvenient)

I would really appreciate it if someone could share a possible solution to my problem. Thanks!

Mi box noise after turning off

So i have a problem with my Mi Box (MDZ-16-AB). After i turn it off or i turn the TV off (its conected by the HDMI cable), the Mi Box makes weird, squeeking sounds. They are not so loud but extremely high which makes them unbearable. Interesting fact is that the box makes them only when i turn it off or when i turn the TV off - it doesnt make no sounds when its plugged to the TV and both the TV and Box are on. It gets so annoying that i have to turn it off from the power when I am not using it because i cant stand the noise. Do you know the solution to this problem?

Hisense Model 32H5510G keeps switching back Android TV Home Screen on its own

I got a model 32H5510G tv for Christmas and overall I’ve really enjoyed the tv besides it auto switching from my HDMI input I play Xbox on and it will randomly switch back to the Android Tv homepage or whatever app I had open last. Any help on what I can do to fix this issue, I’ve found no trigger to make it do it besides it just happening randomly.

I haven’t tried factory resetting it but the last time I did that with a tv it completely broke my VIZIO one so I’m kinda reluctant to do that anymore.

Edit. I’ve found that turning off WIFi if that’s how you connect to the internet and turning off wake on WIFi when you use other inputs has helped me, got it around Christmas and started doing that after I made this original post and it’s worked for me.

Android TV and Home Speaker Groups Might Be Back!

For the past few days, I've noticed that both of my Android TV devices (one's a MiBox S, the other a Hisense H8G) are available to add to a speaker group. I went to cast something to my group "The House" and noticed that a volume slider for my Hisense was available with my 2 Home Minis, so I added the MiBox in and it also works.

I'm enrolled in the Chromecast built-in beta program, so this could have something to do with it. It's a bit moody at times, where I have to disconnect and re-cast until playback finally starts working. But I'm not complaining, I don't care to fidget with it since I've at least got the option.

The only issue, once it's connected properly, is that the audio delay initially is off by around 200ms, even with group delay set, but it does eventually correct, or I can manually adjust the group delay to reset it. Other than that, I've been enjoying playing music across all of my devices!

Does it work for anyone else?

(Mi Box 3) All video apps freeze on first second of playback after waking up from sleep

Device is Xiaomi Mi Box 3

After a while of inactivity/sleep each video playback app freezes on first second - YouTube, Twitch, TV stream app. Sound is gone from the whole device (maybe the cause why apps freeze). Only workaround is to restart... basically every time prior I want to use the Android TV

Problem started occuring after the second update of Android 9, after the initial upgrade I didn't have this problem.

Tried factory reset - didn't fix it.
