Android TV Launcher - missing/strange animation (Android 9, Sony XF9005)

by megyerimarton

Hey guys, I have a Sony XF9005 running Android 9 and I am facing a strange issue about the stock Android TV Launcher. As you can see on the video when I press the home button on the remote there is 2 second delay between pressing the button and the appearance of the home screen.

I think it should work like when I press the back button to close an application, then the home screen appears with a nice smooth transition without noticeable delay (2nd attempt in the video).

What do you think, is there any kind of solution for this issue? It is really frustrating for me.

I don't see you hitting the home button. It looks like you're hitting the enter button to open the youtube app and the home screen is blinking before youtube opens.

(Wait, ha)

Ok, now I see it. But honestly, I'm more concerned about that double-blip while opening youtube.

I'll check my tv but best guess is it's the difference between 'exiting out' of the app and going to where you were last (the home screen), and pushing the 'go home' button which force-takes you to the home screen.

Closing by youtube or leaving by tv os.

Edit- ok, so basically it's the same on my tv. And I bet my reasoning above is correct. Picture Imagine exiting out of a program on the computer by going file->quit. Might have a smooth little shut down animation. Versus ctrl-alt-delete closing it, which just jars you back to the desktop.

I don't think there's much you can do about it, sorry.

I'd be more worried/annoyed about that double blip on startup, tbh.

These is no issue here. When you back out an app these is a fade out animation, when you press the home button it brings you imminent to the home screen. Even on the Shield you have that 2 second delay.

If this really bothering you, activate the developer options, and turn off transition animations.
