Expect box office and IMAX Enhanced films at 80Mbps.

Sony is launching a high-bitrate video streaming service alongside its 2021 Bravia TVs.

... delivers near-lossless content at an equivalent of up to 80Mbps.

That's far in excess of the 25-30Mbps that other industry players, such as Netflix, operate at with their premium 4K content – meaning undoubtedly high quality pictures but, yes, big internet demand. In fact, to access the highest quality, you'll need a minimum internet speed of 115Mbps.

This is something of a soft launch, however, as Bravia CORE will only be available to owners of the just-launched 2021 Sony Bravia XR TVs , specifically the Z9J, A90J, A80J, X95J and X90J.

So does that mean that Sony has finally ditched the 10/100Mbps ethernet ports on their 2021+ TVs by adding a 1Gbps ethernet port and a faster SOC? Because if so, that's the real story here. Pretty sad that Sony TVs up until this point are faster via wireless 5GHz than they are ethernet.

Hope they've finally replace the 100mbps NIC then.

RIP the wallets for all of us stuck with Xfinity.

Even if I could afford one of those TV's my internet maxes out at 40mbps. No amount of money can fix that.

Any speculations on the new tvs price range?

I wish this would come to my x900h.

My 2018 Sony tv can’t handle 1080p streaming apps without stuttering, don’t have massive confidence in this

But will it be Movies Anywhere compatible

a_generic_handle

Not necessarily good news for those with a data cap.
