Maybe I'm confused by the term chromecast, but does this device need a phone or computer casting to it? I'm looking for a Plex device that might need to do disney+, discovery+ etc for the parents and the shield is over kill (though necessary if is the only one lol). I use a mibox and it's 'fine' lol but the stick is terrible and the mibox s isn't on sale anymore (at that price point)

So I got RetroArch downloaded, I got a file explorer app downloaded and I got my personal rip of my Quake 2 PSX disc. I was able to transfer the game to the Chromecast and play the game for a while and was working awesome, then after a few in game loading sections it glitched out and became unplayable. This kept happening over and over.

Is there anyone out there with pro tips for running games like this? How to save the files, file type, how to transfer them, best file manager to use, best emulator to use etc?

I've been wanting to replay this PS1 game for years, for nostalgia reasons and really thought I finally had it working smoothly. I'd like to eventually be able to run my games from a USB stick through an adapter but I also can't seem to get RetroArch to detect my ROM's from that either. Amy help would be much appreciated as I've been told this little device can handle emulation pretty good.

I have the google tv launcher side loaded on to my TiVo stream device, just recently I noticed Netflix movies and shows are no longer showing up, is anyone else experiencing this? I have Netflix linked to my google account , it works properly on my CCGTV but not on my side loaded google tv on my TiVo stream

I have a Sony X850E tv and it came with the stock RMF-TX300u infrared remote. I just purchased a RMF-TX500u remote since it’s also bluetooth, I hate trying to find the IR blaster sometimes.

However I cannot link the remote to the TV via bluetooth. It still works if I point the IR blaster to the TV, just not BT. I tried unpairing and re-pairing the remote but same issue. I also cannot setup the voice button in the settings, it tells me to hold the VOL- button and then the voice assistant button for 3 seconds but I can never get past the 1st screen.

Am I missing a step? Can i factory reset the remote and try again or something? There’s no info on this remote on Sony’s website or anywhere else. So far the new remote seems like a failure with it’s BT not working.

Is 4K Netflix supported? All the shows I select are only showing "HD". I have the chromecast set to display 4K, my TV supports it, my TV is showing that the resolution coming from the chromecast is 4K. Using the Netflix app on my TV the same show titles show the 4K UHD icon.

New to this sub, looking for help. How can I get rid of the banner and screen darkening that shows up for about 3 seconds when I use the Shield remote to FF/RW/Pause in the YoutubeTV app. I could not see anything in the settings / options menu. I did manage to get Google Home Network “Hey Google Fast Forward” to work with no banner displayed; i.e. instant FF or RW with no banner that blocks the entire bottom of the screen. Still I would never use that "Hey Google" technique for FF while skipping around when watching recorded Football games, it is too inconvenient for a lot of skipping around. The point is, I know that Google can FF/RW without displaying the banner, so it must be optional, if only I can figure out how to turn it off? Thanks.

Not sure when the update arrived, but I just noticed that shows on Discovery+ are being recommended now.

The option to select which services are enabled is no longer at the bottom of the "For You" tab, but it is still accessible from Settings. Not that it matters because it doesn't work anyway. No matter what you enable or disable you'll still see whatever they feel like advertising, regardless of whether it's on a service you subscribe to.

Chromecast with GoogleTV -- not sure which other devices will also see this update.

Hello all, I have bought new TV Philips 58PUS8505/12 and I am trying to solve audio problem.

I have older but still usable speakers which are better then stock TV speakers. But when I plug them to TV I cannot control volume directly and every time I want to adjust volume I have to go to settings which is annoying.

So I tried to connect usb audio sound card, which was not working at all till I went to developer options and turned off "Disable USB audio routing". Now sound works ok and I can control it with TV controller directly.

But when I turned PS4 connected to TV via HDMI it does not respond to TV sound volume. I can mute TV and sound from PS4 is still played from speakers connected to usb sound card.

Any idea what I can do about it?

I even tried to use Bluetooth audio dongle connected to TV usb, but it was turning on during night for no reason. Maybe TV waking up in background to check something, don't know.

I am planning to buy a ugreen usb hub for my mi box s. Can I connect 2 usb sticks at the same time and the mi box will recognize it at the same time? If yes, can one of the usb sticks be a permanent extended storage while the other one isnt? ( The other one will contain movie files)

Hey guys, I recently was gifted a Hisense AndroidTV for Christmas. It’s great except for one thing. When I am playing video games or watching a movie, the TV will randomly open the Home Screen. I have no idea why or how this is happening. I’ve searched Google, went to r/Hisense (and got no response) and I’ve found nothing. I’m honestly at the end of my rope with this TV. Does anyone know what might be the problem? I’ve checked all the setting on the TV and I have store mode turned off, and I have the screen saver turned off as well.

Hi all, I've looked and looked online but maybe I don't know what to search for exactly but I'm coming up blank.

I live in Costa Rica, I have a TCL 49D2930 Smart TV that was purchased about four years ago approximately. The problem I have is that the TV comes with very few apps, the ones it has are all for European or Indian apps, and there is now way to download any other apps or get to the Google Play Store.

Is there anyway to get around this, or am I screwed because the TV is simply too old/obsolete?

I bought an IPTV subscription from my provider but I'm having problems when watching the channels on my xiaomi mi stick. Some channels don't load, or I can get sound but not image, or sometimes out of sync sound. I'm using the provider app but it's the same when using other apps like IPTV, the same channels don't reproduce.

I oppened the M3U file in the computer with VLC and everythings works wonders, I tested in my android phone with the provider app and works fine too...

The internet speed is not a problem, the xiaomi mi stick recieve more than 50 mbps... and everyother app works fine, like youtube and prime video.

Can somebody please help? The channels that don't load are always the same ones...

As the title says i can't seem to enable it, it's greyed out, tried everything i could for the day but nothing works. Things ive tried :

-disable display over other apps -disabling google play -developer mode( The developer tools , can't use the 'press 5 times on build' method because it has pin locked) -factory reset -tried downloading an apk using adb, got the app in but it needed an update and wasn't able to because unknown apps wasn't enabled.

Im quite new to the Android TV/Kodi scene. After having purchased a 4k Android TV i installed Kodi as well to watch 4k HDR content.

After checking hours and hours on forums, using calibration videos and even borrowing a Xiaomi Mi S box to compare image quality i am 99.99% sure that Kodi is displaying 4k videos properly. However i cant seem to get HDR working at all. I dont seem to be able to change tv picture settings at all while in the app. Can do that when using Netflix or Youtube. I did manage to get HDR with the Xiaomi box, but I could change its picture quality settings quite easily from the box itself and also from the tv set.

The tv set supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Is running Android 9. Not sure which soc but it does have a Cortex A55 processor.

Any ideas?

I recently bought an Android TV device to use it with my old TV and when I explored its apps, I noticed a lack of apps from Google especially when we talk about web and file browsers which are basic apps for every Android system. I used Puffin and sideloaded Firefox for TV, Silk browser and TV bro, but no one could give me a smartphone-like experience (ad blocking, multiple tabs, synchronization, etc.). I can't understand why Google didn't try to port Chrome to their TV system. The same for file browsing but at least FX browser do the job correctly. Even the remote app to control TV from smartphones wasn't updated since april 2017 and it doesn't support turning off the device or controlling the volume and there is no support to air mouse also.

Is it only me who has this impression or everyone ?

Recently purchased a PHILIPS - 50PUS8555, and 4k works fine on other steaming apps, but on the Google Play Movies app every 4k release is constantly stuttering. I have a gigabit connection, and the TV is pulling about 100Mbps when running a speedtest. Is this just the native app being subpar?

Is there another service I could try to rent/buy 4k movies on? I ordered a Fire Stick 4k to give the app a try on that, but would be nice to have something native that worked.

So basically i bought Mit Tv 4s this week.

I updated android to pie version and all apps but when I'm trying to cast screen through chromecast, the device aren't even appearing on list.

Bluetooth is working and i can connect it with PC and android phone.

What i tried are some solutions from the internet:

I restared both TV and chromecast app.

Tried on the same network with both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz wifi.

Downgraded and upgraded chromecast app(both checking if either version is working) .

Even tried factory reset but it's still doesn't work.

Are there other fixes or maybe the build in chromcast inside of the TV is broken?

Edit: ok, the problem lies on wifi side. When I connected via phone hotspot both pc and tv, chromecast works. The issue now is what to do to make chromecast work via home WiFi.

I own a Sony 65xf9005 and for the past 3 months i tried to find a solution without luck.

The main problem is that they dont work with Netflix, Youtube or aerial TV (because of DRM or smth like this).

So, can someone help me with a suggestion or a setup?
