I bought FireStick gen2 since 2017. My main purpose is to watching football matches and movies. I think it is time to upgrade it or jumping into another device.

Any suggestions?

I have DSL internet and every time I upload photos to cloud, internet goes to a crawl and you can't watch anything streaming on android tv at the same time. It just buffers like crazy until the upload is complete. Is this normal?

Using speed test: download speed is 16.5 Megabits per second. Upload 0.7 Mbps.

I would like to setup my internet so I can continue watching android tv, and make the upload bandwidth stay in check.

Today when my wife went to turn our TV on. The TV was giving off sound but no video. I tried my Xbox which is on HDMI 2, same problem. I then tried the DVD player which uses composite cables and all works fine. I then use the TVs remote to access my apps and they all work as well. It seems like any HDMI port on the TV will give off sound but no picture. I’ve tried swapping wires and turning off the tv for a few minutes then back on with no luck. The TV is less than a month old. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: we’ve went into the settings and saw the backlight set to 0 for some reason. I raised it and still no video when I went to HDMI 1. However, when I hit the home button the HDMI1 picture flashes for a split second before switching to the Home Screen.

I have upgraded my internet package and with it got a tv box that streams movies, tv shows as well as iptv. It is powered by android tv. Honestly, I don't the tv box, i have Netflix, amazon and apple tv+. But a simple android tv would be useful for future projects. The problem is that my ISP installed a launcher app/skin/theme or whatever it is called, basically, some settings are disabled, i am forced to use their app.

I wanted to reset the device but it only resets the data, it just resets their app.

Is there a way i could unlock and reset it back to android tv or flash android tv to it?

I've had this tv 3-4 years and all of a sudden it has decided that it doesn't want to give internet access. It will discover the wifi and/or ethernet cable, just not allow internet access. Netflix will work without a problem, Firestick does not.

I have scoured the internet and found that this issue seems to be resolved with the date/time is incorrect compared to internet-based clocks (such as phone, laptop, etc) and that by turning it to manual and then auto, it will fix it. This does not work for me.

When switching to auto the greyed out date/time remains at 01-Jan-2017 and won't switch over, presumably because it isn't getting internet access, even after I have first gone to manually set the date/time to be the same as my wireless laptop and when I've just turned it off and on.

Does anyone have a solution to this please? How can I get the internet access to the tv so that it can calibrate to the clock?
I have done factory reset at least twice, I have connected wireless and wired. All other devices (wireless or wired) are able to connect to our Sky router and have full internet access with no problem. I have done a hard reset. I have unplugged it and left it off overnight.

My wife wants to buy a new tv (not an option). I just want to watch the England game tonight and we both want to avoid the kids having a meltdown.

LifeProTip: Rename each remote in the settings (ie: Remote #1, Remote #2) and put a label inside the battery cover so you'll know which one has low battery in the future.

I haven’t used a chromecast with google TV since I set one up for my parents after the launch. Back then there used to be a dedicated “live” section on the home screen that made watching YouTube TV amazing. After buying one for myself, I can see that this awesome page is now gone. Is this something they just up and removed during an update? Is there anyway to bring it back? I can’t believe google would just up and remove something that was super easy to use, my older parents preferred it to the decidedly bad YouTube tv user interface.

Can someone explain to the technical restrictions behind Chromecast with Google TV and Firestick 4K not supporting FEL Dolby Vision playback? Is this hardware related or software? Thanks.

I bought a MiBox S a couple of days ago and every time I open plex there's a new issue.The first time everything worked flawlessly and I managed to watch a 4K film in direct play.The second time it wouldn't play any content on the server despite it working perfectly fine on my mobile phone and on the same Wi-Fi.The third time it wouldn't let me switch users, giving me the following message "user switching is not available, check your internet connection or status.plex.tv". Although this time it DID see the content but wanted to transcode anything, the same 4K film I watched a couple of days prior was being transcoded in 480p. Again, Plex on my phone was working flawlessly on the same LAN.What can I do? I set the quality to max so it wouldn't transcode. I tried with a static and dynamic IP although I don't think it could change a lot since it's on the same LAN as the server.MiBox is running Android version 9 and Plex is updated to version 8.19.3.Thanks!

TCL 4K Android TV Model# 43S434

I have two pairs of bluetooth headphones. I use them successfully on my desktop computer and phone. I can listen to locally downloaded content as well as streaming music and video with no issues and at relatively low volume.

I have now tried using these on my new TV. Antenna TV comes through fine, I can keep the volume at around 30-40. However, if I try to watch streaming channels, like Disney+ or HBOMax, I have to turn the volume up to 80-90 to hear the same level of sound.

There is no difference between antenna TV and streaming with the audio from the TV's own speakers.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I want to cast my xbox one screen (not xcloud) to my android tv like how i do on my android cellphone but it doesnt work, the app just do not open. Do you know a solution? thanks

I'm super happy with my CCwGTV device but I'm coming across movies and shows in the guide and finding that they've already been 'liked' - content I don't like, content I've never seen, even content I've never heard of. It's not a huge deal obviously, but I do worry that it's throwing the recommendation algorithm off.

My partner also uses the device but isn't the one liking this content either. As far as I know, our house isn't haunted. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

EDIT: For anyone finding this through search, it turns out this was a bug that would register anything you skipped while setting up content preferences as a 'like'. It has now been fixed, with content you skipped being reset to neutral status. Yay!

I tried to install the Roku channel app on my Sony tv but it says "device not compatible". Is there anyway around this? Roku channel app does work on my Android phone.

I have a Xiaomi TV stick and my remote isn't working. It must've been disconnected. The xiaomi app doesn't work with the Stick so I'm not sure how to go about this.

So I have a generic Android TV OS (it's branded JVC but really someone bought the brand and tossed a basic OS on the TV) it's served me well over the last few months but I'm looking to root it to get rid of ads device wide as well as use it as a development target over Wi-Fi.

I know your first question will be do I really need root, and why not go for a network wide blocking solution? I want to develop on it over wifi without connecting a USB into it first and secondly as a personal preference I rather on device ad blocking as it's more flexible and customisable than an indiscriminant network blocker.

With that out of the way, my question is if anyone has been able to root their generic Android TV? I know that one click root solutions exist but they are mostly malware and can't be trusted.

XDA forums has nothing really to offer either relating to this.

Is there any workaround for this? I don't seem to find default app for this, I don't know if this work similar to pick the default browser. Any ideas to try? What bugs me is that smart YouTube tv is that it doesn't show history, so it would be easier to see the videos without manually typing.

So I finally enabled the Chromecast (Google TV) with Ethernet dongle that’s been sitting in front of my TV for half a year.

It doesn’t seem to have the capability to switch Google TV profiles as I can on my Apple TV. Can it be done?

It’s a shame that I can’t turn off the recommendations (the App Only mode) to keep the interface clean while STILL being able to use my voice to stream Nest cams. Does Google think the only users who want to use voice commands ALSO want advertisements? I don’t, and I shouldn’t be forced to watch them. Google wants $85 per month for 4K TV over YouTube TV. If I’m paying that much, I want functionality without ads.

The profile switching gap is a big deal. Google may have engineered a better interface on Apple’s device that is superior to their own.

Is there any plan to bring the Google TV update to old Android TVs? If i were to buy a new TV now, can I found any with the new Google TV preinstalled?
