So I finally enabled the Chromecast (Google TV) with Ethernet dongle that’s been sitting in front of my TV for half a year.
It doesn’t seem to have the capability to switch Google TV profiles as I can on my Apple TV. Can it be done?
It’s a shame that I can’t turn off the recommendations (the App Only mode) to keep the interface clean while STILL being able to use my voice to stream Nest cams. Does Google think the only users who want to use voice commands ALSO want advertisements? I don’t, and I shouldn’t be forced to watch them. Google wants $85 per month for 4K TV over YouTube TV. If I’m paying that much, I want functionality without ads.
The profile switching gap is a big deal. Google may have engineered a better interface on Apple’s device that is superior to their own.
I can agree with the ads on the home screen, but just to clarify, they don't have any control over ads on the cable subscription networks. There really isn't even control on how much they can charge or what channel bundles they offer.
But the user things is stupid, not everyone lives by themselves, I hate that my YouTube and music are always shown on the home screen.
