I'd like to watch training courses and educational content on my TV, so I can relax on my couch and code along. My primary learning apps are Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, edX, and an app for a specific Python course I got a deal on. Looking at the options out there, it seems unreasonably difficult to get all of that on my TV. There is no Udemy app for my Xbox console or Roku, for instance, and trying to cast to my TV and/or Xbox is like getting a tooth pulled, so I'm turning to Android TV.
The Chromecast says it supports Udemy, but I also read that not all Udemy courses work on it (and I don't know how to find out which ones do or do not before buying.) I also can't tell if the Chromecast has the full Play Store or supports sideloading, and it doesn't seem to have my other apps out of the box. The only thing that looks like it fits my needs is the Nvidia Shield, but that's also kinda pricey.
I just don't know what I should even be looking for. In the future I may also want to expand my options and have, say, SkillShare, Brilliant, Khan Academy, or Domestika on my TV. If the Shield truly is the best solution for this, then I'll go with that, I'd just like to know my options first. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
