Mi Box S or Chromecast with google TV? Picture quality is main concern.

by Larabubamara

I just got a new Hisense TV U6G that support Dolby vision and HDR+. As I live in Dubai, unfortunately, the only model available here is the one with Hisense OS Vidaa, which is not so smart. I'm considering buying an Android box, but stuck between these two choices.

I know the Mi Box S is good, from previous experience, but it doesn't support Dolby vision and HDR+.

The CCWGT however, supports that plus a newer CPU and Android 10.

My main use is IPTV and pirated stuff from the likes of Cinema HD, FilmPlus,..

Do the extra features really make a difference? Would it be better for my TV to have the CCWGT?

Any advice is much appreciated :)

As a normal user who owned the Mi Box I then got the CCWGT and after a few days I thought "ahh this is how this should work after all". All my problems went away when switching.

I just use it for YouTube, Kodi, Netflix and Disney+. Sure there are more capable devices out there with more horsepower and features but for a easy, cheap streaming stick the CCWGT just works for me.

Don't buy the Mi Box S because it uses a now old Amlogic S905X SoC so I recommend something newer or more recent, take a look at this list, try to verify if you can import any:

I think the chromecast is better than mi Box S because i try the mi Box s for a month and i have a big problem on connectivity so im tired of it and buy a H96 Max X3

Chromecast

You're not actually considering buying a 2016 device with a 2018 remote, right!?

I would go with the Chromecast but get the best one not the cheaper one. Especially if your thinking about mirroring a app off your phone or tablet. You probably should get the smaller Nvidia shield stick however it's way better if you want more out of your TV. I have 2 full size ones and work prefect that meet my needs the best.

Dolby vision and hdr is the most gimmick feature for tvs

If you plan on spending money on a “ box,” get the Shield Pro! I have had several “ other boxes, “ and I prefer the Shield Pro above all; so spend your money on quality and superior stereo performance with the Shield Pro.
