I have an Nvidia Shield TV and it's running as a Plex server. But I thought it might also be good for running a HTTP server. What's the best app I can use for this?

No clue what happened. Was working fine yesterday but now the remote volume IR blaster no longer works (but works when setting up in settings), and the interface becomes unresponsive for 10-20 seconds when trying to change volume from Shield remote and will stop video playing and return to home screen. I've rebooted but really don't want to have to factory reset and lose all my settings.

Netflix seems to play ok but volume is very quiet relative to what I used to have to set av receiver to, but kodi playback crashes to home screen after a few seconds

I've been struggling for a while to get the "Network TV Tuner BETA" to show up in my source list in the Live Channels app. Does anyone have any tips for getting it to show up? I can play everything fine through the HDHomeRun source with in the Live Channels app but not get the Tuner option to show up.

I saw someone suggesting : Uninstall updates to the live channels app, then update it again. Clear cache and data in the app. Reboot the shield. This as well as m making sure that the wasn't any internal storage.

I've tried many combinations of this will no luck. Is there anything network-wise that could be blocking this?

EDIT: I did open a ticket with SiliconDust and they just said" There's a bug with the Network tuner that prevents it from showing up sometimes. Unfortunately, we are waiting for Google for a fix on that, and it's a low priority for them at the moment."

EDIT 2: things that also haven't worked: trying an older version of the app (tried the last 7 version) and hard-wiring both the Shield and the HDHomeRun directly into my router (no wifi or hubs).

EDIT 3: I really have a feeling it must be something network related.

Recently I've bought the new TCL EP640 50" TV with the Android TV (version 9) on it. It's more than a decent TV - especially for its price - but the IPTV apps or links via stream casters do not open. I've tried many apps, even sideloaded ones but the streams do not start (even via Kodi plugins with Kodi being directly downloaded and installed from Google Play Store). The screen just stays black and the buffer goes on forever. Is there a way to make it work? BTW in-built Chromecast tends to work with everything but the IPTV links...

And I was hoping for it to be good enough to emulate N64. Also an accessible USB port (or adapter that provides USB) to plug in the wireless Xbox 360 adapter for said emulation.

Aside from the Nvidia Shield Pro... Does anything else exist?

Just got a Philips 4K TV for Christmas. I am not an android user otherwise, so I’m not super familiar with the OS. But this is super buggy. I will try to turn the volume up/down and it won’t respond for 15 seconds if at all. The video lags almost all the time. Any way to fix it? Could I downgrade to a older but more stable version of the OS? I just want a functional TV.

I'm a developer and I've been thinking for some time now to create an app for Android TV. I'm really eager to do something for my TV but I don't really have a need that makes me advance in this. So, I'm here to ask for any ideas that you would like to have in your TV.

It can be a game, or an info app, an app that deals with video would be a little harder for me, but I can give it a try too. Maybe a game you can play connecting your phones? Something with maps? A party music player?

I can grant you a free license for the app if I choose your idea :)

I know it sounds wierd but I coulden't find an option to change or even get a background on my pus7334. The homescreen is just black all the time :(

On my new Philips TV, running Android TV, I have noticed today after a couple of weeks of normal functioning that while watching a cartoon streamed from a NAS (Network source) a thermometer icon was appearing on the top right corner of the screen. After a while it even started to flash (the upper red part).

I get it, it must be saying that something is overheating. I checked the front (screen) and the back of the TV: nothing felt excessively hot, just a bit warm. The TV is not in a closet, there's flowing air all around.

Besides switching off the TV (obvious) - is there anything I should do? What could be the cause?
What is the worst case scenario if I ignore that warning, the TV will shut down?

I had a problem with hdmi arc between couple of devices, so I decided to write philips support. So I did. They practically ignore me, last email I received was automatic reply that my case is "updated"

Also, support web page is really messed up, smells like they don't want to be troubled. Maybe they acknowledge that philips Android TV is really, really filled with bugs.

Who can help me to contact them, my jbl bar 5.1 have hdmi arc problems, simply saying, it turns on by itself over time.

Looking to put together a travel media system that we can bring with us when going to places with limited tv/internet options.

Ideally load up a hard drive, connect to an android tv box and hook up to a tv.

Assuming this will work, what compact/portable/usb enabled android tv boxes will work best?

I bought an Mibox s through walmart yesterday and tried to install a third party streaming app and but I cannot find a way to get them installed. When I go to security there is no check box to select install unknown apps. I also cannot find a default file manager in ATV and also cannot install any other explorer like es explorer. When I go to apkpure website through a browser and try to download the apk it says download not supported. Can somebody help me on this?

It really annoys me how to get into some menu settings it's way more difficult than it needs to be.

If I'm browsing videos and I see one I want to watch later, it's almost 10 clicks to add it to my water mater playlist. Play video, across to more select add to playlist, select it then back and back again. Surely we should have a long press to pop up a menu instead? Or a button for menu etc?

Has anyone figured out how to get these to work together or is it a lost cause? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I know the apk doesn't work. Trying to cast. Really an indictment of Amazon that HBO, Netflix, Hoopla, BeachBody - basically everyone with a streaming service has made it work np, but Amazon, with all its resources, can't (won't).

Title. Experience feels incomplete when I throw a sizeable chunk of cash on a TV with a blurry GUI.

Most of the time it’s super loud. I can watch one YT video and it super loud, which means I have to dramatically turn it down to a minimum to have normal sound that doesn’t hurt my ears. But although I turned the volume down, if I watch another video it’s super loud again.

I get that YouTube videos are all different but I don’t get that experience on a laptop, or my phone. The volume is more or less steady regardless of the video I watch.

In order to not have to wade through a pile of remote controls, I've been successfully using a Harmony Hub with my AV system. I'm currently using a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver with my Sony XBR-65X950g running AndroidTV. I've also got an Xbox and AppleTV attached to the receiver.

When the TV is not in use, we place it in Restricted Profile so that the ten-year old will do things like eat and sleep and not just stare at the television all night.

Unfortunately, with this month's update to Android Pie, the Harmony can no longer control the television while it's in Restricted Profile. We have to use the remote which came with the television to turn the TV on and sign-out of Restricted Profile. Once we've done that, the Harmony works fine.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

We have a small repair shop and I want to be able to play some videos of previous cellphone repairs in our TV while people wait.

I have a Mi Box S there and I have a unlimited GSuite account with a lot of repair videos there.

Bubbleunpn does this but it requires a smartphone to cast everything, and even though the Mi Box has a Chromecast Built in, I would like to do this using the remote.
