So, with so many people shut in, and having recently found that my wife has never seen The Room, I was thinking of doing a virtual movie screening party. The easiest way to do it would be to use my Nvidia Shield to play the movie and stream it to others, but I am unsure if there are any apps available to facilitate that. Is there anything like Zoom or Webex that I can use, that will let me play a movie on the Shield and send it out to a video conference?

My mi box 3 is telebee version, model: MDZ-16-AB, and it's incompatible with NF, i heard if installed an international rom, it would work with NF, but flash a rom on oreo may irrevocably destroy the MRD code,so I have to downgrade it to noungat, and work from there, so where can i find downgrade tutorials? All I found are tutorials of downgrading from Oreo to mm, is this applicable to noungat too? Thanks in advance.

I have used shadow for months on the shield tv. Now my keyboard, mouse, and controller doesn't show up and I can't use any of them on my desktop or game. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Hello, my expectation was to download some movies offline to cast those of my smartphone to mi tv box S on our weekend place.

The issue is that when I try to cast to my mi tv box, no device appear available. It is connected to tv and network all works fine, just cast is the problem. I tried it yesterday with internet and all worked fine. Only one difference is that wifi (router) have no access to internet now. I also tried to set up another hotspot all is connected to same network just without internet access and I did not find a way to cast to the box this way. Is the internet access really an issue? Or any advices to cast/discover box without internet?

I just upgraded from the OG Shield TV to the new 2019 Shield Tube (non-pro) and so far I'm not very impressed, especially with the amount of time it keeps apps in RAM. Anytime I go to the home screen and back to any app, it forces the app to relaunch, never keeping my place on what I was watching. I get that this one only has 2GB of RAM, but I thought that for sure it wouldn't be this bad. Coming from the original which would keep multiple apps in ram and relaunch right where you left off, having each app close automatically even when you go to the home screen is really frustrating.

Happens with Netflix, Plex, Disney+ and more.

Does anyone else have problems with apps closing out too quickly? I get that it would have to close out each app when you open a new one, but having to reload an app when you just hit home to check the time is a step too far. Am I alone in this, or is the just how this one works (and therefore I'll send it back because this is unacceptable)?

To be fair, I'm probably exaggerating a bit, it's still pretty bad.

OK, so I've been searching for a while now and can't even find the right words to type into Google without it mistaking me for wanted to cast something from a phone.

Let me explain.

I have a nvidia shield android TV in the living room hooked up to hdmi receiver and from there to the TV. In the kitchen there is a Nest Hub smart display (chromecast with speaker and screen). Is there any way to copy whats onscreen on the living room tv/soundset to the kitchen smart? Is there a way to automatically cast the output of the nvidia shield to the nest hub in the kitchen.

I have home assistant and Logitech harmony elite if that matters. I'm not looking for 2 way control, for now mostly just copy what's on screen to the kitchen.

I know some Samsung tv's had an app that did something like this but couldn't find anything related to Android TV.

Can anyone suggest an app or a quick way to disconnect bluetooth headphones?

I can't use a bluetooth toggle because my remote is bluetooth.

I just want to disconnect my headphones, so the sound goes back to the TV speakers without having to go through settings every time....

Wife keeps switching between YouTube TV and Hulu live. Have a variety of boxes and sticks. I am using a first gen fire TV in my shop because I need to plug into Ethernet. I was using a unofficial APK to play YouTube TV but that stopped working and the official app is not supported on the first gen. I have an Ematic Jetstream in the house I like but notice it's an older os. Is there something better or more current to use? Wouldn't mind something a little snappier but not wanting to spend Shield type of money.

What happened to the Hulu app?

It shows an error about Internet connection but everything else works great, even Prime Video.

This happens since the last app update and Android TV update. As i saw on Play Store reviews, i'm not the only one with this problem.

Did someone found a solution?

I have network tuners because i live in the middle of nowhere, but i dont want other users in my house scrolling to things like the pluto, CW, Google Play, or other online source accidentally(because we have metered cellular home internet) is there a way to disable a source without uninstalling the app? I'd use HD Homerun instead but the app is too clunky and complicated for other users, and doesnt offer local DVR functionality (i'm the olny one that has recording rights for Plex but want them to be able to record something in case i cant schedule it) I'd have them use plex live TV but it tends to struggle with continuous viewing sessions that last several hours

I'd be open to other apps with similar functionalities otherwise i'll just have them continue using plex, restarting shieldTV when it acts up, and having to schedule everything through me

X-plore has been recommended to me but it won't install the zoom APK. I keep getting an error-13 code. Any ideas?

Edit: So after all your suggestions I found a fix! The APK was a bundle, that's why it wasn't being recognised. I found another APK file for zoom and X-plore installed it without an issue. Thanks!

Is there any way to have a custom home/bootup screen, where I can choose a custom wallpaper and some Material Icons for Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime as well as my favorite Input channels (HDMI1, HDMI2...). Can I do that without having to use a custom firmware and with using an add and bloatware free App?

I have a movie file that my iMac says is Bit depth = 10, Chroma subsampling = 4:2:0. When I play it through Plex on my XB1X my Optoma UHD40 projector says it is displaying as 10 bit RGB, and when I play the same file through Plex on my Nvidia Shield TV 2019, The Shield says the file is YUV 420, 10-bit Rec. 2020, HDR10 ready

BUT

When I check the display settings on the projector this time, it says it is outputting 8 bit, 4:2:2...
I checked Netflix (Spenser Confidential) on my Shield and the projector says it's 10 bit 4:2:0 I checked the same movie on Netflix on my XB1X and it also says 10 bit 4:2:0

Does anyone know why movies are correctly showing via Plex on my Xbox as 10 bit, and also Netflix on the Xbox and Shield as 10 bit, but for some reason movies through Plex on the Shield only show as 8 bit? Even though the Shield itself says it is displaying 10 bit?

Is the default remote that comes with the Mi Box an airmouse? Does it have a gyro and functions as a mouse?

Which android tv box is best for side loaded apk’s? I am currently using fire tv box with Ethernet port and fire sticks for side loaded apk’s. I know some of my issues with the performance is my internet which I’m about to fix with new service. I would just like to know if any particular Android tv box would perform better and reduce buffering.

I just got my first ever Shield, the TV 2019, and loving it so far! However......

I've previously read about an issue with the Shield giving a reddish tint to the image, especially skin tones, and sure enough as soon as I added Plex and accessed my server, the first movie I played had a definite red hue to all of the faces in the movie.

I read that a hot fix will fix this, is that still the case? I haven't signed up for the hot fix yet, but I updated to the latest Shield version (8.1.1) and I toggled "auto switch color space" to on, but it didn't seem to make any difference..

I'm viewing with an Optoma UHD40 4K projector through a Denon X3600 AVR.
