What do you think.

You have

Blokada

AdHammer

AdGuard

AdClear

And???

Maybe we can make some election here?

Thanks.

Setup pihole on a separate device and let all the devices on your network have ad-blocking.

Another vote for Pi-Hole.

Adaway with root. The developer is working on it for non rooted devices right now. Hopefully it comes out soon.

I stopped rooting my devices and therefore I'm using non-invasive blockers now. Also I don't want to rely on a separate machine for having adblocking working. Therefore I don't use pihole. And I obviously just want free software because most adblockers could potentially sniff your internet traffic.

Blokada was fine and I really like the UI. But sometimes it just stopped working and didn't restart itself properly. I also tried all of their modes but none helped. I had to restart it every now and then.

Recently I tried DNS66 and personalDNSfilter . It turned out that both work flawlessly without having the restart bug.

I also heard good things about NetGuard but I didn't try it yet because DNS66 and personalDNSfilter work perfectly anyway for me.

You won't be able to block Youtube ads via a DNS list, but you can use SmartYoutubeTV

GNex5

If your device is rooted, use AdAway . If your device is not rooted, use AdClear . For the removal of YouTube video ads, use the Smart YouTube TV app.

I just use an ad free dns. I tried a pi-hole but could never get it to play right with my google wifi.

if your android tv is pie , you can set a private dns with adb commands. Just google private dns on nvidia shield. the commands will work whether you have a shield or not.

I used that method along with nextdns. Youtube ads wont be blocked by anything just fyi. Use smart youtube tv for that

Pi hole %100

I use Adguard on my Mibox. Signed up for beta testing which gives you a premium account. Besides getting some "skip ads" on Youtube, it blocks everything else.

Not sure if it's the best solution, but works great for me because it's just install and forget.

How do you block ads in yt? I have nvidia shield and yt is still full of ads and I'm using pihole?

Surfshark vpn's cleanweb feature gets rid of all my ads.
