Hi all

Girlfriend and I have just replaced her old TV with a Philips one which runs on android TV. She also has a 4th gen Apple TV which she used for all her smart stuff but with the Philips being smart it does almost everything the ATV does so she wants to put the ATV upstairs with another TV.

The only thing I'm struggling with is that whilst the Philips does have chromecast built in it does not have airplay, and she uses the screen mirroring function a fair bit to put her phone screen on the TV. I've found several apps in the play store provide airplay functionality and run in the background which is great but all of them are horrendously slow/laggy when using the screen mirroring, whereas the ATV, which is sat right under the TV and on the same wifi is buttery smooth.

The TV has no problem streaming/chromecasting etc and I'm sat right next to the router with my phone so I don't think poor wifi is the issue. The TV model is a Philips 58PUS7304/12

Apps I've tried:

APowerMirror AirReceiver (Both lite and Paid) AirMirror AirPlayMirror Airshare Airscreen (much better than the others but still nowhere near as good as the ATV and requires subscription to remove ads so nope)

Any ideas as to why airplay is so slow and/or any app recommendations that work better?

I am using MiBox3 for last 18 months and used to watch Amazon Prime since the beginning after installing it from Play store.

However since two days, the Prime app stopped workings and throws a message "device is not compact able". Any idea what happened in the past 2 days and truly appreciate any workaround.

Android version 8.0.0 (latest update as on today for the box)

I've been playing with this box almost all day trying to work out what is happening, I have tried multiple HDMI cables, multiple power cables, attempted connect to laptop with usb to micro usb lead, no sound or connection, attempted various remote controls.

I am now waiting on a male to male usb cable to try another method, the light pulsates between blue, green and purple.

After holding down the reset button in the AV hole the light appears to stay white when connected back to the power.

Maybe the previous owner soft bricked it but I'm open to suggestions.

If there is anything I can try via USB that would be great.

I'm thinking of buying an android tv device, as far as I can see the two recommend devices are Mi Box and Nvidia Shield.
But my question is which one has better software support on bug fixes and OS upgrades?

I have a Sony bravia kdl 43 w805c running version 7. I want to be able to use the TV for video calling. Is there a way of plugging a Web cam in and sideloading the fb messanger app to do this? What's app might be more tricky.

The other option is that I could use chromecast, but it was always slow and laggy, and now it won't let me connect my phone to it anyway.

The other last way I could maybe do it is to use my raspberry pi, but it's one of the early ones. I would probably sign in with Facebook in a browser for that.

I don't know how I could get what's app to work, and I haven't used zoom before.

Does any know an ad blocker other than Blokada for Android TV 9? Thank you.

So I have not kept up with the latest and greatest. I have an older Supvin EM95x Android tv box.

Can this be updated to Android 10 or is it just another tech trash?

All I want to do is watch SyFy channel on my smart tv but its not smart enough and out dated internet browser. Can’t mirror cast either.

Any ideas? Really don’t want to spend another $55 for fire tv or other android box to be later useless tech trash.

I tried opening the application on my Sony Bravia KDL40RE453 this morning and I got a notification, saying that there are a lot of screens watching at the moment. I have Premium and that seemed weird, the first thing that came to my mind was that someone has logged on. I immediately checked and no one has logged. That was helluva relief but that didn't help me at all. I opened Netflix one more time but nothing happened, there was only a black screen and after about 30 seconds it crashed. I thought Netflix's servers were down but I was able to log in on my mobile phone. My friends experience the same issue. Any help will be appreciated!

So I've downloaded Pluto TV and that works nice and stable. Tubi is also very smooth. But Crackle for some reason is slow to navigate and I don't like the overall feel of it. Are there any other good free Android TV apps from the official play store to watch free movies/tv shows?

So, I own a Roku and Androidtv and I noticed my Roku version of the youtube app is much better, including a much used feature to change user accounts while android tv forces me to sign out and then sign in when changing.

Why is Android TV so far behind and is there any workaround for it?

Hi there, bit of a noob question and if this has been asked before, but do the apps on and Android TV (Netflix, Disney+, Prime etc) support Dolby Atmos? I have an Atmos enabled receiver and have it working on my current TV through the NUC PC and Dolby Access, but considering purchasing an Android TV to do away with the PC. Or is Xbox One X a better option?

I have a Sony X9000F which I use the standard OS. I've noticed it becoming a bit slow so I'm considering a media box to replace it. I frequently play PC games so I'm considering the nVidia Shield.

I have two questions

- How would the performance of Game streaming be when both the PC and Shield are over 5ghz wifi?

- Is the nvidia shield worth it as just a media box? Could you recommend me something else that isn't so "laggy". I'm mostly interested in the shield for it's 4k upscaling and dolby vision.
