Hi, been trying to use the remote apps for my TCL android TV, and as soon as the phone's screen goes off, or I try to switch the app, it automatically turns off my tv. This happens with the remote android tv and the official one by Google. Is there any way to solve this?

I have had a Mi Box S (MiBOX4) for about a year. It recently updated to Android 9 with the 5 March security patch. Until now I have been side loading the Prime Video app, but I saw that with Android 9, the Mi Box was supposed to support the Prime Video app natively. It does not show up in the app store, and when I search for it on a browser and try to remotely install it from the list of my connected Android Devices, it says the Mi Box is not compatible with the Android TV version of Prime Video.

What do I need to do to get my Mi Box 4 "compatible" with the Play Store version of the app? I'd like to be able to get regular automatic app updates, instead of having to manually side load updates all the time.

After latest update to my SharpTV on 27th April (version V1.13.18.0_U002, compilation PTO8.200426.001) my brightness started randomly switching while watching shows or movies. On static pages (like main menu) it's ok, but during a movie even in one scene it can jump from dim to bright or from dark colors to lighter. I turned off all video options like denioser, HDR, auto quality, etc. but it doesn't help.

Do you know what can I do have you had similar issue? Unplugging even for whole night didn't resolve this.

Is there a way to set up a pin or password for my TCL 50 inch Android TV? I'm able to change the pin from the settings but it doesn't affect the Android TV interface.

Problem is theft is very common where I'm from. I've been burgled once and two of my TVs were taken so I'd like to be able to make it redundant for a possible burglar.

If you set the pin form settings, I'm still able to reset the TV from Android and it requires the default 1234 pin to reset and not my changed password from the settings.

Any help will be most welcome

Is there a way to install it? Of course i paid it.

Hey Guys do you know how to download Android Fire TV Apps on an Android TV? I want to install Receiver Radio. For Android there is only an version for mobilephones.

I want to try more sources for live channels but when i click on get more sources i just get a screen saying "try again" and "retry" and clicking "retry" doesnt do anything. Anyone else have this issue and were you able to resolve it?

Running into an issue where the device disconnects from WiFi in any media app (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc). It’s about 50/50 whether it affects video playback or not, half of the time is causes the playback to stop.

WiFi shows connected to my network, however the icon for WiFi is blue.

Can’t be my WiFi as no other device in my house has this issue.

Does anyone have a resolution for this issue? I’ve looked into the settings as best as I could and I can’t see anything. Developer options are enabled but couldn’t find anything in there that would help.

It looks like the android TV inaccurately thinks it’s in standby or something and disconnects when streaming video. Any help is appreciated!

So now my shield hd is full from all the scrapped content and when I go into the general settings and then Data directory it will not let me change the directory to my nas drive. Any advice?

So here in brazil i see some options avaiable Tanix Tx, Mx series and xiaomi.
Iam complete new on hardware but i know everything about apps, video streaming and other stuff.
The problem is: Tanix tx3 has bluetooh but only 2gb ram, Mx9 has 4gb ram for the same price and some users comment about the durability not being so good, unfortunately mi box has 2gb and cost 2x more.

Okay, so I've decided to buy a smart TV. The cheapest option would be to buy a decent HD LED TV and a firestick or any other streaming device.

Now, first of all does 4K make a huge difference? If so then I'll have to buy a 4K smart TV (since there are no non-smart 4K TVs and a 4K Firestick (for app support) But this cost is same as buying a pure android 4K TV (such as Sony Bravia) which renders a streaming device unnecessary.

What do I do, please help me.

So i have a TCL 32" Android Tv. I use chromecast built-in alot and I daily watch vids from the web like vivo n stuff.

I used to skip or rewind 10 seconds by pressing the arrows near the OK button on my remote. Yesterday i did a factory reset and now i cant do that anymore. When i use Google Cast i can only pause the vid with the OK button. I also turned HDMI CEC on still doesn't work. I don't know what setting it is or if it even is a setting.

I hope somebody let me know.

I treated myself to a TCL tv specifically because it said it was an android tv with Google Assistant built in. I knew that the Play Store was limited but was confident about sideloading so didn't think I'd have any trouble.

I don't use a TV aerial because I don't want much live TV, just use catch up. So been trying to install the usual apps (in the UK) - iPlayer, All4, ITV, Freeview.

None of them work :(

I installed a screen rotator to lock them in landscape but that doesn't help that they're incompatible with a remote. They need a mouse cursor to work out what you have selected, that is if it let's you navigate around at all.

I tried using a mouse toggle app on my android phone but that wouldn't let me click anything.

Has anyone had any joy getting these apps to work? Is it as simple as investing in a Bluetooth remote that will show a cursor (if so, which one)?

I have Youtube Kids as one of my channels on my home screen, and it has about 5 or 6 "recommendations", none of those have anything to do with my kids, not even remotely close.

Those recommendations have not changed in the last couple of days since I have been paying attention to it.

When my kids actually go into Youtube Kids, (and select either one of their profiles), the recommendations are fairly close to what they would watch.

Is anybody familiar with that issue? Any way of getting the channel view to display good/correct recommendations?

Has anyone got 5.1 sound working with the Disney+ app (specifically on the MiBox)?

If I cast to the MiBox from the mobile app, I get 5.1 sound. If I play it directly from the AndroidTV app, it's just stereo.

Just got the Mi Box S in India. Any interesting ideas to improve the user experience and a good way to stream local media (apart from Plex)? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

So as of last night the YouTube app on my Nvidia Shield will no longer play "age restricted content." It gives me a warning prompt as it had in the past (annoying), but even after I confirm that I want to continue it gives me another message: "Somethign went wrong. Sorry, this content is age-restricted." and the only option is "Back."

I have confirmed that Restricted Mode is turned off. I have also been able to watch the same video on my PC and phone, using the same account/profile. I tried forcing the YouTube app to close and trying again. I tried signing out and back in. Nothing seems to resolve this issue.

I recently posted a nice review on the Tivo Stream4k however after a couple of days weird stuff started happening so I would caution anyone thinking of buying one to wait until they get the kinks out with some updates.

That said I realize the issues I am having could be limited to my equipment or the combination of my SONY TV sets and the Tivo Stream.

I finally disconnected the units after they kept trying to turn my TV sets on and off as well as force my TV set to the HDMI port the Tivo is connected to when I first turn on my TV sets.

I went into setting on the Tivo as well as my TV sets and my AV receivers to make sure everything was set properly. They were.

I thought it could be a communications issues with my AV receivers (Denon and Marantz) but this latest issues of forcing me to the HDMI port the Tivo is connected to tells me it has to be something happening with my SONY TV sets and the Tivo Stream.

This is unfortunate because otherwise it seems like a nice piece of equipment but not functional for me at this time.

Proceed with caution. Might work well for others but if anyone tries the Tivo Stream with a SONY TV I would be interested to know if it acts up or not.
