Not sure if this is the sub, but confused

Okay, so I've decided to buy a smart TV. The cheapest option would be to buy a decent HD LED TV and a firestick or any other streaming device.

Now, first of all does 4K make a huge difference? If so then I'll have to buy a 4K smart TV (since there are no non-smart 4K TVs and a 4K Firestick (for app support) But this cost is same as buying a pure android 4K TV (such as Sony Bravia) which renders a streaming device unnecessary.

What do I do, please help me.

There are non smart 4k TVs just typically small and lower quality.

I would argue 4K doesn't make a huge difference but the HDR/Dolby Vision does and it is neat impossible to find a TV with 1080p and HDR/Dolby Vision. There are some super small ones out there though and you would be better off with going with a 1080p pc monitor with HDR (BenQ EW2780 as example).

It ultimately depends on what size you want and what features you want. For the most part I would argue ignore the built in smart TV because it will be obsolete in a couple of years anyways.

I have to TCL 4K TVs. They're cheap and they work great. I don't like that their Roku TVs, however, for their price point you can't beat the value for the performance and quality. I have a 55 inch in my living room and a43 inch in my bedroom. If you don't want to spend a ton of money then try the TCL TVs.

Yes both the Sony TV and the standalone boxes like Amazon, Xiaomi and Nvidia all run AndroidTV, but the processing power is completely different. Don't assume just because a TV comes with Android as the OS that you can do everything with it.

If you're on a budget, and you need Android TV, I would suggest that you get the best reviewed 4k TV you can afford that runs Android...

Then in a few months to a year if you've come across apps that you want to run that don't work on the TV spend the money on a separate Android device like the Nvidia Shield or Mi Box S

Amazon is having sales on DirecTV's this weekend. You may want to look.

Also look into Hisense 4k. They are cheaper and I've been happy with my 55 inch TV. I bought it at Xmas for 400. Great screen! The included Android TV works but if you don't like it you can firestick.

Edit 400 use. It might be 500 now. But how often do you buy a TV?

Edit.. USD for Gods sake! fewking autocorrect

I have a 55 inch 4k TV (TCL with Adroid TV 9). Maybe it's the other technologies it has like HDR, but it makes even 720p content look really good. If I were you, I'd buy a 4k smart TV, even teh cheapest you can get because companies do not add new tech to old TVs (read 1080p and lower).

Good Luck!

I've got LG 4k 43" inch TV with webOS. Previously I hooked up my Mi Box S and it's been really good, but since I bought PS4 I gave my Mi box to my sister. If I were you, I'd buy a 4K TV and Mi Box S or any other Android TV device.

I'm not much of a video snob but I must admit that 4K when run properly is quite impressive and there is a noticeable difference between 4K and 1080p.
