We've officially run out of space in our household.
We don't even have that many apps installed; they're literally all simply streaming services. Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Les Mills, IMDb TV, Tubi, Crackle, Pluto, Youtube & Youtube Music.
Officially out of room. Can't update apps, let alone install new ones (Paramount+, Disney+, Peacock, etc.)
Anyway, the absolutely tiny storage space available is really annoying.
Who else is out of space?
Having been on the Android train for years, definitely saw this coming. Motorola Droid, Galaxy Nexus, Moto X, various tablets they ALL had issues running out of storage. Even when there's an SD card, the partition sizes end up limiting the device.
They will never learn the obvious lessons that:
At this point one has to assume that Google did it intentionally. Why they didn't decide to make a "premium" version is beyond me.
Using a USB-C PD hub with a USB thumb drive formatted/adopted as internal storage should help with this for awhile. But really 4GB was never ever ever enough.
Related Note: Fuck Google for not implementing Storage Access Framework! You can't EVEN WRITE TO EXTERNAL DRIVES without it!
Another reason why an Android TV box is a better choice.

It's on par with similar priced devices, so i don't see the issue. You get what you pay for. There are devices that are better built imho like the the mecool km2 with ports already available to expand storage.
The chromecast is not a powerhouse, it's well priced product for what it offers, but don't expect all the features a shield has.
I have a shield 2019 pro with a 500gb ssd as internal storage, but it's about 5 times more expensive than a chromecast.
Delete cache in settings I've claimed back upto 750mb
slap on a c hub on that sucker, i got 120 gb storage and have a zillion apps installed. out of the box one of the down sides to this dongle is it's storage sucks but performance wise is really good.
Check your system cache you should at least be able to do updates. I'm out of space but I have 30 apps installed.
It's a $50 dongle that should be sold for less so I'm not sure what the expectations are with this. It's not like they are hiding the specs.
They are competing with other dongles from Amazon and Roku.
For me this was just something to hold me over. Looking at the Homatics Box Q.
I ran out recently and had to delete an app that I never really used so on thin ice if any big updates come out :(

Android has the feature to convert external drives as additional storage for apps
Factory reset your device, should be enough room.
The CCwGTV should have had more storage or the very least a microsd card slot so you could easily increase storage without needing to use hubs and USB sticks.
Even having a card slot baked into the Ethernet adapter would have been better than nothing.
