Hello Android/Google TV friends,

Quick question for you all... Can you guys share the names of all Android/Google TV players/Streamers you know of that support:

1. Force SD and HD content to DV or LLDV content ALL the time?

2. Have native Netflix and Chromecast support?

I know the Apple TV 4K can do this as well as the Roku Ultra can, however, I'm really checking to see if Android/Google TV players can do this as well?

As far as I know the Shield Pro gets close, but it can't force DV all the time for SD and HD content. Is that correct?

I successfully paired, connected and used my Jabra 75ts with the Mi Box S and when I was done I wanted to disconnect it, but there is no option in the bluetooth menu on the Mi Box S to do so, I can either “Change Name” or “Unpair”. This is pretty dumb imo since I have to unpair and then pair my headphones again and again whenever I want to use them on the TV. There was another post on this last year, but there was no solution or workaround mentioned in that post unfortunately !

Does anyone know if there are similar devices to the firestick only that run android tv? I'm sick of amazon not letting us take control and customize our home screens. But I've been looking and I'm not seeing many "sticks" if you will they are all boxy. Any suggestions in that regard?

Ok I bought A TCL 50S546 at the beginning of the year. I tried activating VRR on my PS5 last few day. Everywhere online says the TV has VRR but when I try to active VRR on the PS5 it says my TV doesn't support it. So I thought maybe I need to active it on the TV. So I look online for a guide to turn it on but when I get to the area there not any option on the tv For VRR I'm so confused can someone help?

Hi, my friend's Xiaomi TV says that the internet is offline when trying to update/install apps. The internet is working on Netflix and YouTube. It also says that it has a google account, but when opening the account list, it's empty. What can I do?

The Tv's running Android 9 and refuses to update.

Is there a way to connect to a new network without factory resetting a chromecast? I want to have one to travel with and use at hotels, accommodation, etc. without needing to factory reset and reinstall apps such as Netflix and Jellyfin.

Are there other devices which can do this?

I guess one solution is to bring a little travel router and have the Chromecast always be connected to that network.

Is there anyway to connect to a L2TP/PPTP VPN from Android TV directly? I have seen some posts requesting the same earlier but couldn't find any useful options to achieve the same. Even though they are outdated, there are still some players(Especially local ISPs who offer OTT) who offer services on these VPN protocols.

PS5 now supports VRR but it says my TV doesn’t support it although it does. So I think it’s disabled, but I can’t find the VRR option so I can enable it? ( I found a video that shows how to enable it in android 9 I think, but after the last software update it’s now Android 11 or Google tv and the option disappeared!

Up until about last week, the UI was the same way. Search, home, discover and apps at the top, highlighted stuff under that and favorite apps, etc.

Then one day it changed and seemed much snappier with the app icon to the left (i.e. Netflix, YouTube) and the content on the right side.

Then today i just noticed that it has switched back to the older UI.

I'm extremely confused about what happened.

Was there an accidental push of a revamped android TV that got recalled?

Am i a part of some kind of Beta program without realizing it?

I checked the system update and it says i am at the most current.

As the title says, is there any way to replace the entire OS of a smart TV to the new Google TV OS? My Hisense has the Android TV that looks like Google TV but isn't.

I did discover that the only TV hardware related functions needed are Android Apps so they should transfer to the new OS easily. (Input picker is about all I can find that is required, rest I've already disabled)

I really want profiles that's built into Google TV and a few other features (like recommendations from apps instead of the "channels" on the home page) but simply side loading the Google TV Home App and Google App doesn't work fully, even when the original Home app is disabled.

I recently found a Sony KD55X7055 and although it technically supports a rudimentary form of HDR. I find that my SDR content gets compromised when I get my Realme 4K stick to actually process HDR so I need to run it in SDR mode for the best quality across the board.

On the TV I have apps for YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video. Seemingly impossible to install any more apps, I'm guessing there is no way to sideload apps to such an old TV but at least I can try and ask, right?

I'm using SmartTube Next on a Nexus Player. Sometimes when I open it, it works flawlessly. Other times, it absolutely cannot play videos properly. I get massive drops in frame rate. Watching things like sports highlights becomes impossible. Audio is never an issue. Videos load fine, but the frame rate is abysmal. It seems to happen at random too. Some days it works perfectly fine.

I know my wifi isn't the problem because the official YouTube app never has these issues, and I have very good internet. Any tips on how to fix this? Is it just because I'm using an OG Nexus Player or is there a setting change I can make? Any help is appreciated.

Recently i've tried to download an APK file which was a modified version of YouTube but without ads but everytime i try to download it from the browser it doesnt do anything. I've tried to put the APK file in a USB stick and then plug the stick to the Smart TV and the thing is that the TV only reads media files inside that stick. All in all, ive tried to look up for the app store but i cant find anythig except for the tv default apps.

I would be grateful if someone could guide me on what do i need to do in order to download the APK file and to modify the youtube app in order to get rid of ads. Thank you!

Hey, all!! I just used SD Maid to clean out the junk in my Android Box. Now, whenever I click on an app, it gives me the options screen (Open, move, remove from favorites) as if I long pressed on an app. Is there any way to fix this? TIA!! :)

I am at my wits end on this. Kodi froze up on the box. Had been running 7.1.2. I setup a plex server on my NAS and it works fine to all devices but this box. If i leave it in mobile mode i can watch shows. if I switch it to tv mode then it crashes. It was suggest in the r/Plex subreddit to try updating the rom. Now Poison seems to no longer be an option. I have Tried aidan's roms for V8 and V9 for LPDDR3 and all seem to get stuck in a boot loop. Any ideas?

I have a 4K TCL Android TV and a Galaxy A52 phone. So far I didn't experience any problems when I mirrored my phone to TV via Google Home Chromecast. However, for last months, I cannot watch a video without my fullscreen rotated phone getting horribly arranged on my TV. When I cast my phone to TV after playing a video on a website (desktop mode and fullscreen mode).

Massive black bars everywhere and the aspect ratio is horrible it's like I'm watching on a tablet. I've adjusted my TV's aspect ratio and Chromecast built-in settings, my phone included. However, I could not fix the problem. Please someone help me I'm gonna go nuts.

I recently bought a Google ChromeCast with Google TV. I have a 128 GB USB 3.0 which I have formatted as Internal Storage to expand it and install new apps, but when I go to a file explorer (I have tried with x-plorer, file commander, solid explorer) this USB doesn't show, only the internal storage that comes with the CCwGTV. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Hi, I am looking for a no thrills reboot app. So my kids and wife know what todo when Netflix, Youtube or the TV app is unresponsive. I have to restart the TV almost weekly, navigating to it is cumbersome with just a remote.

I have a recent Philips model, can't make out whta version it's running but it's up-to-date. The "keep the powerbutton pressed" isn't working for Philips it seems.

I have looked into this;

• The developer tools commands aren't going to work, to complex for them.
• The Nexus app with reboot option is no longer in the appstore.
• Got the Power menu mapped on the record button with Button Mapper, but the menu doesn't work.
• Google Home app has routines, but not for this specific function.
• I saw some apps that only work on a rooted TV, I want to avoid that.
• There is a scheduler app, but I don't want it scheduled.

Why isn't there an app for this?

Has anyone managed to get 4OD on their Mi Box S? Pleeeease?! AND BBC iPlayer????
