had an issue with an app that I have recently installed by APK, so I had to uninstall it.

now that I have downloaded and try to install the APK again it just gives me "App not installed" error right about the 90% progress, I have tried downloading the apk from other sources but it's the same.

Replacement air mouse + voice remote for a TV with built in Android TV?

I own a TCL Android TV and it came with a big remote which has some issues and does not have a microphone; I want to use voice commands to navigate the OS and apps. My Nest Mini works fine independently for switching inputs and opening YouTube but doesn’t interact when I toggle voice buttons within an app. I also need an air mouse or trackpad built in for what I deal with.

So I’m searching for a new small, minimal and sleek remote that can control everything like normal but also include *working voice control and air mouse. Preferably no numpad and modern design like Google’s remote since I’m pushing aesthetics in 2022.

  • From my limited research, voice control in [TVs with built in] Android TV only works through bluetooth remotes. please correct me if I’m wrong. And most air mouses (mice?) are USB controlled rather than bluetooth so I’m concerned that voice may not work.

Obvious solution is to get a mobile app but that’s not easily accessible by any other users. I’ve tried many apps but it’s laggy and temperamental. A half solution is buying the TCL voice remote which looks great and probably will work with no setup, but no air mouse. Another solution is to buy a Chinese USB air mouse voice remote. I have seen some videos of voice working with Android TV boxes but nothing so far with an actual TV. Furthermore they also need what they call an ‘IR learning feature’ so it can copy my original remote’s power button. However I see reviews on most of these remotes about the IR not working or learning correctly. I don’t really care about other buttons like volume and inputs since I can control them using my Nest Mini.

So far I’ve gathered some contenders in order. MECOOL V01 - seems legit and bluetooth WeChip W3 - cool ripoff Apple design WeChip W1 - most reviewed, generally good

Any other remotes which fit my needs? Which would be the best? All help is appreciated :)

Me lol Km2 volume stopped working

Hi everyone, so I have the mecool km2 and first the volume control stopped working on the remote so I had to rely on my tv remote volume. Now the volume is on mute for my android box and the mute button and volume control buttons are not working. Every other button works. So I basically can’t hear anything when I use my android box. I tried updating but said I had the latest update and don’t want to factory reset it because I will lose apps I had to pay to get installed. I appreciate any help with this. Thank you.

Recommend Android games that work with a keyboard & mouse

So I finally got my Onn 4k box to recognize a USB keyboard and mouse. Since I don't have a gamepad as of yet, I am hoping to find a few games my kids can play that are compatible with keyboard/mouse, preferably on the simple and smaller-footprint side such race cars, FP shooters, etc..

Any ideas?

Launcher that supports changing Inputs?

I changed my launcher from android tv home to a few others and lost the ability to switch inputs. Do any of the 3rd party launchers support changing that in the TV?

Device is a hisense 60A6G. It does appear that google play has been updating the launcher hence it was puzzling that on stuff like launchy and leanbackonfire it didn't work.

Need help getting the best TV (with AndroidOS, preferrably) for my buck.

UPDATE: My budget recently increased to 1000€, what do you guys think about getting a Sony XH90/XH92 65-inch for 950€ or a Samsung Q80A 65-inch for 1000€?

TL;DR: Best AndroidTV for 600-700€ budget suggestions plz;)

My budget is 600-700€ (But would like to keep it 650€ max) and I am from Europe. Just trying to find the best TV I can get for this money and use it for decades. Real keen on the screen being a LCD (VA subtype), QLED or any other good OLED alternative with good black levels (Because I'm scared of burn-in). And as mentioned in the title I'd really want it to have built-in AndroidTV (It being the OS is the same thing right?) because it is really convenient. I could find some sales in my local stores and I'm planning only to buy it from there. Any help, guidance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated:D

Walmart Onn 4K box - OTG Hub Issue

I recently bought an Onn 4k box, and was hoping to get it working with a USB keyboard and mouse. I ordered a Smays OTG Hub with power from Amazon. The hub powers up the 4k box fine and appears to be outputting voltage to my keyboard (lights up), however I can't get the box to recognize either the keyboard or a mouse plugged into one of the other USB ports. I tried three different keyboards and two different mice, but the box does not respond to any of them at all.

Is there a particular setting I need to enable on the box in order to get it to recognize USB devices? I experimented with various settings in the Developers menu, but they did not seem to have any effect. Any advice will be appreciated.

Best TV for external devices?

I use CCwGT and I want to continue to use that and future external devices for streaming. Since dumb TVs are now rare (and typically low quality or very expensive), what are some good brands that are unobtrusive and will not nag if I refuse to connect it to Wi-Fi? I plan to use the CCwGT remote to control the TV.

I asked as a reply in a thread awhile back that Sony and Toshiba are possibilities, but I think both users had connected to Wi-Fi.

Onn Android TV box - wasn't there a second more capable option?

TL;DR thought I would get the upgraded version of the Onn android TV, can't find that unit now. What should I get instead?

I have two of the $20 units, one in my bed room on a projector and one in my office on a 27 wide screen. Really like them, like the pure android TV experience, and it performs well for the price. I got a OTG for the one in the office so we could use a wired controller for steam link, the one in the bed is just the box. I have a Vizio M series in the living room with a 2.1 all in one soundbar and I am getting sick of the the OS on it, keeps getting slower and lacks a few services we want (showtime). Had I known better I would have bought and android TV to begin with.

So I thought since by the time you buy the box and a OTG you spend about the same money, I will just get the upgraded onn box and use that in the living room. Well, that upgraded box isn't listed anymore; or did I imagine the whole thing?

So what would be a comparable alternative?

Local movies directly from external 1TB SSD!?

Hey again!

Do you think I am going to watch movies more smoothly now that I have bought a SSD? I mean, do you think I will be able to play 4K webrip/web-dl and 4K blurays through the SSD directly on my 4K tv? I mean because the SSD is much faster than my HDD!

If so, what media player app do you recommend on android TV? What player plays movies most smoothly, and what player is good for 4K local content? If this won’t work smoothly either, then what is is the best way to watch local movie content (without using chromecast).

So should I get a Nvidia shield pro, is that the only choice to secure that I will be able to watch 4K smoothly?

I am not able to play in 4K?

My Mi 4X tv is a 100% android 4K tv with L1 widevine support. I also have 100 Mbits internet speed yet I am not able to watch content at 4K/ UHD. The max quality it shows is HD, so I am assuming it is 720p. Any guesses about what I can do?

Is there any thing I can do within the Tv or any third app or Client(like Vance for Youtube) which I can use to set playback quality to 4K as default

Latest Google Katniss makes the CPU load constantly run on 100%

You can see that on AIDA64 app, it run on 2004Mhz constantly...

The fix is just remove "installed updates" of "Google" app and "Force Stop"

And disable auto update on Play store...

Google is aware with this bug and will resolve it in next update...

Realme 4K Stick With Google TV 11 review: Google TV disappointment

Another day, another device I get, this time I'm new to the Google TV UI and I must say I'm disappointed.

SPECIFICATIONS:

- Android 11

- Amlogic S905Y4 with AV1 hardware decoding.

- ARM Mali-G31 MP2.

- HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG.

- 2GB RAM.

- 8GB internal storage.

- WiFi AC.

- Bluetooth 5.0.

- HDMI 2.1.

PROS:

- We still don't have those hated ads in my country yet.

- I can finally use the internal microphone of any UVC webcam different than Logitech to make videocalls thanks to the security patch installed on the device dated january 5th 2022, though I'm not sure if it's Android 11 the one that makes this possible but anyway, at least it works.

- Google TV's user profiles support (currently rolling out though I still haven't received the update).

- Other enhancements brought by Android 11.

CONS:

- The UI is laggy and sometimes unresponsive as well as the overall performance of the stick, sometimes it reboots by itself, Realme really needs to improve it.

- I don't like the Google TV interface, I was optimistic about the switch from the Android TV UI but it really needs some polish in these aspects:

  1. There isn't a clock on the home screen 👎
  2. The Android TV channels can't be moved or removed from the home screen and some of them look ugly 👎
  3. Google hid the Play Store, Play Movies and Play Games apps from the launcher so they must be invoked using the assistant or by going to the apps section in settings, I know there are some apps in the Play Store that helps to create a launcher icon but that's not the point. I also know that the Play Movies library is integrated into the UI but I don't like the app to be hidden 👎
  4. The "apps" section is ugly as well, Google also integrated the Play Store interface but it lacks the updates screen integrated as a row so we can learn when a new update is available without going to the Play Store directly to check that out 👎
  5. All the launcher icons in one single grid in the app drawer makes it look messy, I really love how they are organized on the Android TV UI, apps and games in its own separate section 👎
  6. Adding apps as favorites to the home screen is so ugly, the UI only has space for a limited number, the rest remain in the "Apps" drawer 👎
  7. The Live tab is not available in every market because Google needs to partner with everything that breathes to make more money 👎
  8. Sometimes when I'm moving through the interface the screensaver suddenly appears which is annoying (it may be a bug) and I hate when it also appears when I press the back button on the remote control 👎
  9. Changing the screensaver between Google photos and the other options can be done from the device directly without using Google Home, but it doesn't work if the device hasn't been added first to that app 👎

- Android 11 and its scope storage thing broke some apps I tested, for example, I always use X-plore and the app is unable to create, delete or move folders to and from the internal storage, it shows an error message stating the process couldn't be performed.

- I've been unable to use game console emulators because they don't see the external storage connected to the device or apps doesn't work very well yet with that storage framework, formatting it as internal doesn't fix the problem either.

Dolby Vision is presumably not supported but an option appears in the screen settings, however, the option appears in the "not available" section along the HDR option since my TV doesn't have support for them but I'm not sure if the Dolby Vision option becomes available when the stick is connected to a TV with support.

- The device lacks a Dolby Audio license, which means, Dolby Digital Plus internal decoding is not supported but only passthrough, for example, I'm not getting audio from HBO Max when the stick is connected to a TV with only PCM 2.0 support but this is a problem of the app rather than the device itself, I had to report the issue to HBO.

- Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and Master Audio passthrough is not supported, but the stick is able to passthrough the DTS Core from DTS-HD streams, however, many video apps can decode them as multichannel PCM without losing the lossless quality, meanwhile, Dolby TrueHD decoding to multichannel PCM is not working properly because it gets downmixed to stereo, but it's probably an issue of the firmware.

- Auto framerate is not supported as far as I can tell but it will be supported once Android 12 arrives to it... someday.

CONCLUSION:

The device is relatively new and it will take some time for Realme to improve its performance.

I understand that the Google TV UI is a resemblance to the Google TV app on mobile devices but it leaves a lot to be desired honestly.

Aftermarket remote for Philips OLED Android TV

Can anybody recommend me any remote, than is confirmed working on Philips OLED Android TV (55OLED805)?
Original one got watered, and since I didn't like it too much from the start, and new one original is super expensive I really one another option.

Having keyboard on back is preferable, although that might be a long shot if it would work.

I don't care if it's Bluetooth or 2.4G, juut that is confirmed working :)
Must is only a Home button, 4 arrows and volume control.

UI jank on TCL 5 series

I have a TCL 5 series 4K Google TV with the latest updates. The input lag from pressing the assistant button to it being ready to listen can often get into 5-10 seconds. It's so bad that when I want to submit a feedback through the UI it times out.

If that's not the worst UX idk what is. Does anyone have the same issue? I haven't tried resetting the device yet.

ONN 4k not changing input?

I got one a few weeks ago and am loving it to death! My one problem is the remote won't switch between inputs. The source menu pops up when the button is pressed, but none of the other ones seem to actually swap between input options.

If it helps any, the television is also an ONN product, but seems to be from the mid-2000s going off the fact that the input labels can be set as "Wii" or "PS3."
