I've been using the CCGTV for my LG Oled B9 for half a year and was quite satisfied. Everything works fine until when I tried to play some high bitrate(more than 30Mb) Bluray movie from Kodi it shutters a lot. Since it should be the issue with CPU I decided to upgrade to the Nvidia Shield Pro, which makes me quite disappointed.
1.The UI is not rendered in 4k. I immediately recognize the difference between the CCGTV and Shield. I tried to use Adb to force rendering in 4k, but some apps like Disney has an strange layout. So I roll back to 1080p then.
2.The CCGTV always outputs Dolby Vision signal, which looks brighter and more vivid on my TV. I don't find an option in Shield.
3.While playing Spotify sometimes the audio drops out. Never encountered this on CCGTV.
4.Now in Kodi there's no problem playing the high bitrate Bluray Movie, but I feel(maybe) the jutter is more obvious.
Except the problems above I do enjoy the 4K upscaling and the Gamestream function. I don't know if I should return it since I could expect more Upgrade from a 200 Euro device.
I know a lot of people keep saying Kodi this, Kodi that, but I think Nova Video Player is the best Android TV player right now because it is faster than Kodi because it is Android native, simple to use, plays everything, and connects to media shares easily. Like Kodi, it is fully open source and is a complete media center minus the python addons so if you just need to play videos over your network, give Nova a try.
You can find it on the Play Store and visit their subreddit at /r/novavideoplayer
You can also test the latest v6 builds with all the latest features at https://github.com/nova-video-player/aos-AVP/releases
The dev says v7 will get a "new look" if you guys think the current look is not enough for you.
Any questions? I'm not the dev but I can help anybody who needs it.
