How to turn off the Xiaomi Mi Box S ?

Hi guys, I recently bought a Xiaomi Mi Box S and I just don't know which is the best way to turn off it. I mean, is it enough just to use the remote control or should I also disconnect the power cable?

I know it is a newbie question, but this is my first android box.

SmartTubeNext can't create new playlists?

SmartTubeNext shows two ways to create a new playlist, that I'm aware of. 1) ""Add this video to new playlist" by long-pressing on a video (before it plays) and 2) "Create playlist" by long-pressing on the Playlists section in SmartTubeNext's main menu. Neither of these methods work.

To confirm, this is a known issue? Is it a current limitation of the YouTube API? If so, why is the option shown?

Weird interface bug on Android TV, can't open apps with 1 click

So, I have a MECOOL KM2 and I really like it

Though now I have an odd bug

Every app on my home screen and app drawer can no longer be launched with a single press, it instead opens up a menu as if i had long pressed it, then i would need to press open to launch said app

If i try to rearrange the apps, there is now a bar at the bottom showing where i can go but I can no longer move apps up/down/left/right with the arrow buttons on my remote, pressing the middle button just moves it up and down until it reaches the top and the back down.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Only thing of note would be me trying out Mouse Toggle, but I have uninstalled the app already I also tried rebooting the box, clearing the cache of the android tv home screen app

Upgrade from CCGTV to Nvidia Shield Pro

I've been using the CCGTV for my LG Oled B9 for half a year and was quite satisfied. Everything works fine until when I tried to play some high bitrate(more than 30Mb) Bluray movie from Kodi it shutters a lot. Since it should be the issue with CPU I decided to upgrade to the Nvidia Shield Pro, which makes me quite disappointed.

1.The UI is not rendered in 4k. I immediately recognize the difference between the CCGTV and Shield. I tried to use Adb to force rendering in 4k, but some apps like Disney has an strange layout. So I roll back to 1080p then.

2.The CCGTV always outputs Dolby Vision signal, which looks brighter and more vivid on my TV. I don't find an option in Shield.

3.While playing Spotify sometimes the audio drops out. Never encountered this on CCGTV.

4.Now in Kodi there's no problem playing the high bitrate Bluray Movie, but I feel(maybe) the jutter is more obvious.

Except the problems above I do enjoy the 4K upscaling and the Gamestream function. I don't know if I should return it since I could expect more Upgrade from a 200 Euro device.

Don't use Kodi addons? Try using Nova Video Player instead as your default video player instead of Kodi and you may like it more.

I know a lot of people keep saying Kodi this, Kodi that, but I think Nova Video Player is the best Android TV player right now because it is faster than Kodi because it is Android native, simple to use, plays everything, and connects to media shares easily. Like Kodi, it is fully open source and is a complete media center minus the python addons so if you just need to play videos over your network, give Nova a try.

You can find it on the Play Store and visit their subreddit at /r/novavideoplayer

You can also test the latest v6 builds with all the latest features at https://github.com/nova-video-player/aos-AVP/releases

The dev says v7 will get a "new look" if you guys think the current look is not enough for you.

Any questions? I'm not the dev but I can help anybody who needs it.

Disney+ Subtitles transperacy, font and color settings. Turn this bug into feature!

You can't change font, color, transperacy or any subtitle appearancy settings on Disney plus, but I just noticed a bug. If you install "Just player" from play store and change subtitles settings in Just player, same settings will apply to Disney plus.

In Just player long press subtitles button or settings button to find subtitles settings.

Watching HDR content on OLED in dark room without 50% transperacy for subtitles is eye burning torture

Returned my first Walmart Onn 4k TV

For 20 dollars you get a 4k streaming device but the first one I got had so much problems with HDMI flickering and overheating to the point of rebooting. I wanted to ask, have any of you encountered these issues before? If so, did you make a return?

Cheap Android Box that can playback up to 60fps 4k Hevc/x265 video?

I currently have a s905x3 box that a got a 2-3 years ago. I dont really watch tv a ton, but I have a plex server and ive signed up for shares in the past, many of which offered x265 10bit videos. My device can currently decode and play 4k x265 videos, but anytime a video says 8-bit or 10-bit, my device fails to decode and play the video completely. Doesnt matter if Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin. I'm assuming its too much data to decode? But I really have no idea. Im looking for the cheapest android device that can decode these files themselves without having to decode on my PC and cast to the device.

Im in the US if that even matters, as most the cheaper boxes are all chinese anyway.

Edit: I cant change the title. But im specifically looking for a box that can decode 4k x265 10-bit videos files.

Not getting all the bandwidth to my TV

So my TV is connected to LAN but only getting 30-50 out of 300 Mbps. It also gets the same bandwidth through WiFi.

I wanna mention that out of all devices connected to LAN the TV is the only one not getting all the 300 Mbps. Does anyone know what might be the reason?

AndroidTV morning panel

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some sort of digital signage tool that would allow me to display nicely a dashboard on my AndroidTV every morning. Basically I would like an app that would allow me to display on the same screen the local weather forecast, maybe my meetings of the day, a youtube stream of the morning show that I'm listening to on the radio so I can see the interviewees, a couple of news from a RSS feed…

I've looked into it a few times but never found what I was actually looking for, maybe because I can't formulate the proper keywords. The closest I got was with "play signage" app but I did not manage to get something nice and tidy, the objective is not to irritate me first thing in the morning with an ugly design haha.

I'm not concerned about the automation part as my home automation system can control my TV. It's more about the dashboard app itself. If the app is not able to self execute based on a schedule, it should not be a problem.

If any of you knows of this kind of application I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

What is the simplest, cheapest Android TV box that can decode 4K 60fps H.265 content?

The fewer bells and whistles the better. It just has to be able to play back 4K 60fps video from anywhere, like YouTube or from file storage, for as little cost as possible. I'm in Europe so I cannot acquire US specialty products like e.g. Walmart's own brands.
