I have a few questions about android tv

I've been wondering about it's privacy features, if I set my account on let's say the living room TV, will the users of that TV have access to my pictures through Google photos and have access to my emails and contacts as well?

Will I start to get YouTube suggestions based on what they watch?

Will they be able to purchase stuff with my account?

Thanks.

Is there some way to downgrade my Sony android tv back to nougat from oreo?

I just updated to oreo and it suck imo. The older UI was much cleaner and easier to use. Also does anyone know how to clear recent apps on this oreo version? It was holding home button in previous version.

A fun little racing game for Android TV (and phone/tablet). It's not a very demanding title and should run on most boxes & TV sets. Supports TV remote if you don't have a controller or really want to challenge yourself.

Perfect for couch co-op with up to 4 players in split-screen local multiplayer mode: https://youtu.be/zenKDxUGPeo?t=146

Intel PC - Install Android TV

Hello all,

I have an old PC laying around so I thought I would give it a go to install the 'Geek til it hurtz' Android x86 build of Nougat 7.1

I have created my USB using Rufus as instructed from the YouTube video.

Now I boot the PC into the USB, choose Install to Hard Disk... And it just sits on "Detecting Android-x86..............."

Nothing more! Any ideas what the issue could be?

By the way this is a touch screen all in one that I am just using for testing purposes.

Thanks!

Anyone have the JBL Link Bar?

Looking to replace my Sony Z9F with a link bar. Just curious if HDMI inputs have input lag/latency? Would like to do some gaming. Also curious if you can automatically switch to the HDMI input if you turn on your console (i.e. I turn on my PS4 and it automatically switches to the I put my PS4 is plugged into)? Thanks!

Edit: also curious about surround sound with this thing. Can I add rear speakers? Would like to be able to do at least 5.1 audio. Not sure how many speakers the main unit has. Thanks again.

Ok so I'm a bit confused. I've been looking at boxes on Amazon. They say 4K and all that good stuff. I'm getting confused though with this DRM stuff. I guess I don't really know what it means. From what I understand these devices don't really do 4k for Amazon, YouTube, Netflix ect.

Can anyone please help explain this to me in layman terms? I'm leaning towards the Nvidia shield now because everyone says, no matter what go with that. It's a bit out of my price range. Gaming isn't something I'm really interested in, so idk how much power I need. I have searched Reddit and googled to the point of just being 100 % confused now. If I don't have to drop $179 on the Nvidia I'd rather not. I guess my big question is are there other devices that give true 4k? I'm not even sure if the is the correct sub for this. Again, I'm sorry because I'm sure this is covered constantly, but I just can't make any sense out of it. Thank you!

Every time I turn the TV on it says there's no internet.

I have a Sony Bravia KD-49XG9005 Ethernet connected to my router. When I turn it on there's no internet so no app will work. After I go to settings>network and wait it will finally connect (it might do that without going to settings). It must disconnect right after I turn the set off because I don't have a connection after turning it on again. Is there a setting I need to change?

Boy, I'm really not liking this TV a lot.

Which aspect of video determines HW or SW on MX Player

Video files using SW decoding stutters while those using HW plays smoothly. Same goes for VLC (though it doesn't show how it decodes) and for both 1G/8G Sony Android TV and 2G/16G cheap Android TV box.

I was trying to find out how I can tell which files will be using HW and which will be using SW, but I looked up media info on MPC and I can't tell. The rare few HVEC ones are all HW, but most show AVC AVC1 and I don't see the difference. Is there a way to tell?

I saw a post say HW use hardware and SW means its using CPU, so if all aspects remains the same but change ram to 4G, will it stop the stuttering? Or can it only be helped with better hardware (CPU, GPU, etc)?

55PUT7303 Not finding Bluetooth headphones?

Hey guys, first post in this subreddit. Just wanting to see if there is anybody out there who knows why my Philips tv won't pick up my headphones when they're in Bluetooth pairing mode. They worked with my old Philips tv. Model is in the title, and my headphones of choice are the Sony WH-1000XM3's. Thanks in advance, and feel free to request any info!

PS: both the tv and my headphones are up to date software wise.
