I have a few questions about android tv

by JanusHeimdallr

I've been wondering about it's privacy features, if I set my account on let's say the living room TV, will the users of that TV have access to my pictures through Google photos and have access to my emails and contacts as well?

Will I start to get YouTube suggestions based on what they watch?

Will they be able to purchase stuff with my account?

Thanks.

Well, of course they can do all that stuff. What I recommend you to do is make another Google account and use it for that tv. I'm having an Android TV in my bedroom and one in the living room with different accounts just for that reason. Hope that helped

Yes, with the exception of being able to purchase stuff if you set a pin requirement. You can just set up another gmail account and use that instead though.

Yes, I have same for phone and TV. My S.O.'s youtube suggestions come up on my phone. You could always create another account for the TV.

I don't know about bi-directional browser history, it looks like my chrome phone history could be accessed on TV. However the TV has it's own browser app and that does not share.

Just turn on restricted access. You can then just add one or two apps only. Dont allow restricted user to use play store. No need to be setting up other accounts etc. YouTube won't be logged into your account. When you want to use it just revert using the pin to get back to main user account.
