There’s a series on the Viceland channel I started watching and I’d like to get the app on my fire tv. I’ve noticed they have an iOS/Android & androidTV app but I can’t seem to find the apk for the androidTV one so I can sideload it. Does anyone have a way of getting it?

A couple months ago someone posted an app where you can set up your cable subscription and local air stations and cast to the tv. Been searching for an hour and can't find the same one. Can anyone help?

I remember not hearing any statement with Google or Android in it and most articles don't mention it either. It kinda makes me doubt it will ever happen but will be damn proud if it does just for my iTunes movies sake. So what do you guys think? Any way to hope?

The box came bundled with my fibre plan. While most OTT apps are preloaded, Prime TV isn't.

Anyway, I assumed it shouldn't be that big of a deal to sideload it. The Play Store on the box did not have ES Explorer or any cloud storage apps. So I managed to get the APK over with a combination of FX Explorer and a random WiFi file transfer app. So far, so good.

Only post the installation, the Prime TV app refuses to open. The first time I tried to open it, there was a username/password prompt after which the app just closed. I haven't been able to open it since. I even tried Prime Android TV app - I could install that, but the 'open' button on the screen right after installation is greyed out.

I'm at my wit's end now. Help me out y'all.

EDIT: The OEM of the box is some Chinese company called Skyworth, if it helps.

Will my 4k movies play in 4k if the output of my Android box is set at 1080p? I don't see any reason to set the output at 1080p when my 4k tv does an amazing job at upscaling.

I recently bought a Phillips ambilight TV.

I've been trying to cast my phone YouTube video on the TV.

The Chromecast symbol appears, and the TV is appearing. Tapping Phillips TV seems to confirm its being cast. The YouTube casting ui appears and shows its casting on the TV - but nothing is happening on the TV.

Can anyone help?

I've tried updating the app in settings section and clearing cache. Nothing seems to be working

Can anybody recommend me a box that does 4k and has an actual plugin for erthnet and not wifi only?

I've been looking at a few and the km3 really looked like a good one except for the erthnet plug. It looks like my only options are shield and skystream.

I don't use Netflix or stream gaming. I only use Philo, unmentionable app that rhymes with cobbro, and Disney+ when it comes out.

Can anybody else recommend me a good box that meet these needs besides the skystream or sheild? Or if those two are it, which one is best?

Apologies if this has been posted about before... I came across a TV a few days ago running Android not Android TV. Worse it was running Android 4!!.Please anyone be aware this happens. Really concerning though.

I love every thing about the Logitech Remote I have except for the fact that I can't go Home or kill apps. Is there any sort of "macro" learning that I could do with it?

I start to set it up on my Sony Bravia but it says to choose cable or aerial to scan for channels so I stop at that point because I'm in the UK but don't have cable or an aerial. I do have broadband but it's slow. I want to watch Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.

tbh I only ever use my previous xiaomi tv to watch shows, movies and youtube but I heard the shield is rly good? I won't really use my tv to game tho. Any recommendations would be nice.

Hi, is anyone having issues with Philips Android TV and Prime Video. I can cast with no issue, and I can play some video files, but not all. Support tells me that it is not a supported device.

Not sure if this is a software challenge or a remote challenge. I purchased a JBL Link Bar a few weeks ago but I feel like my question isn't device-specific.

So HDMI 2 is the only input that's ARC-enabled on my TV (an LG), so that's what I have my JBL Link Bar connected to. When I'm watching a TV broadcast (OTA with an antenna), I can easily switch over to the Link Bar from the broad using the provided JBL remote (ex. pressing Home takes me to the home screen). But I can't do the reverse. At least not while the input is on HDMI 2 and I'm connected to the JBL Link Bar. The only way I can switch back to the TV broadcast is by pressing "TV" on the remote provided by the television manufacturer.

I'd really like to not have to constantly use two different remotes for my TV viewing habits. Is this a function of the JBL remote not having an IR blaster? It should be moot considering it's connected via ARC right.

Shorter post: because of ARCX, I can control the TV broadcast volume and channels with the JBL remote, and I can control the Link Bar with the LG remote. But I can't turn on the TV broadcast from the Android TV or using the remote provided by JBL.

I ordered a Mi Box today with the bright idea that I could make a little Minecraft machine for my nephew. I own a Minecraft license through Google Play, but I’ve read conflicting information on whether Minecraft on Android TV is still possible. I’ve read that I can just log into the Google account that has my Minecraft license and then install Minecraft remotely from the Google Play website. Is that work around real?

My built-in chromecast was working perfectly until I moved. Previously I could cast with no issues but now I have to connect/disconnect my Mac and my tv until it works.

Using one of the latest versions of chrome. Things that have changed since it was working: new router, maybe a tv update and I believe I updated the chromecast app, but I don’t remember. Not sure which version my tv is running.

Any ideas?

I have a Sony XBR65850E and for some reason I can’t stretch the picture. When I go to settings > picture and display everything greyed out.

Any way or any app that can help me with adjusting the picture? I hate black bars.

Sony xbr-55X800E got the update just a couple months ago now and ever since then the wifi disconnects when the screen is off and I can no longer use the android TV app to wake the TV, also having trouble casting sometimes. Also can't use voice controls from Android TV app on my phone at all since update.

I accidentally put a useless app on there clicking the "add app" button, but now i cant figure out how to get rid of it
