Have a fire TV remote with my nvidia shield tv. Works great but lately the batteries die in the remote within like 2 or 3 days. Is there a bug or something?

Buy full batteries or try things like eneloops. Most cheap batteries are almost empty when you buy them, because they are stored for months and lose energy. I self use eneloops I every device that needs batteries, and yeah, I'm happy with it for about 10 years now.
Btw just to avoid potential confusion... older eneloops are manufactured by Sanyo but it's since a few years manufactured by Panasonic. But it's the same item.
E: I don't know whether your remote control supports it, but also check if the mic is running and sucking energy because the button is stucked or whatever.
