Projectors are generally not really a good replacement for televisions, even if they are short throw.

Their main problem is that if the room isn't dark, all the colours will appear washed out. And very few people would want to watch TV/YouTube/etc, in a pitch dark room.
Projectors work really well for watching a movie, but outside of that they are generally lacking compared to a television.
