I bought this box on december together with a new monitor:
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07GLR6RQF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It worked perfectly for 2 weeks until I noticed the stremed content was not 4K, just HD.
So I changed the settings on the display menu to 4k-2k at 30fps, after I did that the screen flickered and had no error., so I restarted netflix and still the same problem.
So I decided to Turn OFF the box and Turn it on again, after I did that, the box didnt boot Again.
I contacted Amazon and I returned the box, the refunded me the money and I bought it again.
Any tips so this doesnt happen again? Or maybe I had just bad luck with this unit? and it shouldnt fail again
I just wanted to drop by to say the Zoomtak Uplus tv box is still an awesome tv box. At our house we have lovers of youtube and netflix.
One hiccup with netflix though. When you try to install netflix through the play store it says "this device is not compatible". We overcame this by using an older version of the netflix provided apk. The specific version we use that is successful is: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/netflix-3-16-6-build-5382-release/netflix-3-16-6-build-5382-android-apk-download/download/
Some other things worth mentioning. The youtube/netflix found within our seiki tv are much much slower than the instantaneous performance provided by the zoomtak uplus' arm64-bit 8-core soc with android 6 on it. zoomtak uplus is a joy to use. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another zoomtak product.
I wish they would also allow for it to be a used as an SBC with well-documented linux install alternatives for the same hardware. I also wish they sold alternatives that allowed for more RAM for more desktop-pc like purposes.
I got off a long troubleshooting chat with Google on the subject issue. To save others the time, here's the relevant info:
Google Response: "Our engineering team is aware of the issue where customers who have built in Chromecast for Vizio, Sony and Nvidia Shield products are having problems using voice commands to cast on the TVs. The product and engineering team are already aware of it and are coordinating this with the said partners. As of now, we are still waiting for their investigation and review to find a stable fix."
To help them with their investigation, for anyone with the issue they wanted me to do the following:
"We would need your help with investigating this further by filing a feedback from your Google Home app. Just open the app and at the top right, tap your account. Tap "Help & Feedback" and then "Submit feedback report (under the Google Home section) with the subject: "CC T3 Unable to recognize voice command". Also list the firmware version of your TV and built in Chromecast"
Other relevant info: I tried all the solutions in this thread, and it didn't work for me. Feel free to try in vain like I did if you like. https://piunikaweb.com/2019/11/20/nvidia-shield-google-home-integration-is-broken-for-some-but-theres-a-way-out/
Nvidia support didn't really help me at all. They did confirm a separate issue where the Shield cannot display Google Photos in its screensaver using the "Photo Frames" from Google Photos. They said they were aware, and can't comment. They wouldn't provide an ETA on this. For the voice command issue, they told me to contact Google, but they weren't very helpful and didn't seem to take it very seriously.
