Interlaced content 1080i50/60 is now finally, properly deinterlaced in hardware full-motion to 1080p50/60.
Anyone else getting stuck video on Hulu after the update?
Anybody facing audio/video sync issues over bluetooth earphones? I reset the device twice but it's still the same. I am using OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 and there was no problem with the previous build. Now I can't even switch simultaneously between 2 devices for which I bought these earphones.
I hope this gets resolved as soon as possible.
Bluetooth is completely messed up with this update.
please check if dualshock4 controllers are working. In beta they didn't but Android9 supposedly should support them natively.
I just updated. The google home app on my android phone cant find or connect to the mi box now. Seems like the chromecast functionality is broken now.
They released this by mistake, it is the 'old' beta3. This is what support answers about bt audio devices issues:

Just installed it, Chromecast works when you delete cache, data and restart MiBox. What are some big updates with new version? Also, I had previously installed Prime Video through apk file, but there is no version of the app in the Play Store.
Anyone else having issues with google assistant voice commands and voice search in apps after this update? It seems as if it's not recognizing the remote's mic input.
Lots of issues reported here. I would stay away from this update for now.
This sounds great. If you have auto-update turned off will it force you to update it? I like to wait a few weeks to see what the issues are before doing major upgrades like this.
Is there Prime Video installed in this update?
Please note it's the same release i.e 2231 as Beta 3.

Before I had ATV Launcher as default launcher. After this upgrade it keeps bringing back Mi's launcher and I can't find an option to select the launcher app I want. Any idea how to set ATV as default?
Feels a lot better. Let's see for how long it holds up.

After upgrading Mi box S to Android 9, active speakers connected to the 3.5 connector started clicking (fart). The speakers click when the console is turned on or off, when you restart it, and when it is in sleep mode (every 1-10 minutes). This applies not only to me, but also to many of us who have active speakers connected to the console.
I updated to this and now my box wont boot up any ideas?

I received the notification here in Germany two days ago and performed the update. Big mistake:
- Hulu freezes every couple of seconds (unusable)
- microphone in the remote does not work anymore
I really need this box working, because the wife loves her Hulu. I performed a factory reset and re-installed all apps, to no avail. Played with settings, even played with the HDMI cables etc... but nothing helps. This stupid box has turned into a pain in the butt.
Mi Box 4 here. Got the update notice, downloaded and hit 'Restart Now', box reboots, shows the system updating circle and progress bar, but it only gets halfway and then reboots into UI but it's not updated, and the update is still available to download, any thoughts?
Yesterday I made a hard reset before I made the update. Then I did the update. But today I can't access the hard reset screen. Could it be related to updates? I press the middle key and the back key.
Does anybody experience sound lag? did a factory reset, but still the sound lags behind...
chromecaste no worke(
Well this is rubbish. Despite all the complaints in this thread I went ahead and updated it.
Issue 1: Chromecast was completely broken. I cleared the cache and data, rebooted it but did not fox the problem. So I uninstalled the updates, cleared cache and data again, rebooted it and that seem to be fixed it. BUT!
Issue 2: I can only issue voice commands from my phone (like 'turn on the TV'). Commands from other devices like Google Nest hub and Google Home Speaker result in 'Sorry something went wrong, try again later'
Issue 3: On my Nest hub the controls for the TV (mi box s) disappeared. It lists the TV (mi box s) as a device but the only option I have is to 'play music' no volume controls, no power on/off controls etc.
Issue 4: I am using Wake Lock 3 to keep the device on the network even after I hit the power button to turn off the thing along with the tv. Since the update it oes not seem to work because after a while it just drops off the network. This means casting stops working, and the TV shows broken in the Google Home app.
Issue 5: When casting the pictures from my phone I see a ghosting effect on the black area of the portrait photos (black area is the area on the two sides of the portrait photos). It looks like it leaves traces from the previous picture as I swipe to the next one. It is really faint and does not affect the actual picture but still annoying. Disclaimer: I am not using this feature too often so it might be the case that I just did not notice it before the update.
So far so annoyed.
After the update, my Google Photos are not showing in the mibox screen saver. In Google Home app settings, the Google Photos option is not listed.
I removed and re added the mobox to google home but that didnt fix it. Any idea how to get the google photos option back?
I heard android 9 killed an audio source routing method so usb mic and webcam are not work on 9. Can someone check this out?
Is this mandatory or what? I have mi one setup just the way I want it as it is..

Issue here: when putting the screensaver, the “design” of the Clock and Weather is the same as Android 8.0. If I check my Chromecast on the other TV (Chromecast 2), it has the new “design”, more clean. Anyone knows why?
I cant use my custom launcher. It won’t give me the menu to select a launcher. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling

Can you check if auto resolution works good now? For 4k TV I get 720p and for PJ with 60fps I get 50fps by default.

On Android 8.1, I had an issue with Plex's new player not being able to play 4K HDR files (works fine in the old player).
After the 9 update, this seems to work flawlessly. Nice.

This update seems to have fixed an issue in Plex I have never been able to get around, it will now direct play 4K HEVC content from my server. Before this I always got a connection error.

So there's no way to get cec for audio working is there? Shame as my other android TV had no problem changing my amplifiers volume.. Shame as I can't use tasker/autoinput to make the volume pushes simulate my amplifiers volume either (using a broadlink rm pro).. So only internal volume possible damn. Back to my other android tv box until cec works properly, if ever. Or buy a remote where the volume buttons only are programmable but then no voice button or power button for the xiaomi so not a great option.

The remote microphone is not working with Google assistant and I'm can't seem to set atv launcher it goes back to default launcher after pressing home button. Also the smart YouTube app is connecting the display from hdmi or something. It goes blank when I play video on the app. Anyone else faced these issues?

Is this update compatible with Mi Box 3 (MDZ-16-AB) which is currently running on Android 8.0.0 (latest stable release)?
I installed the beta version using a flash drive back in December. I also went and checked for updates today and hlad it install the latest version.
My problem is that I don't see the Amazon prime video app installed. I didn't see it in the beta version, nor do I see it in the ota pie version I just installed.
I see people saying that the prime video app is supposed to be there. Under about system, v it shows Android version 9.

Hello i want to know how to enable chromecast after i update to android 9 ?
My dad says I should manually perform full factory reset (which involves a clean cache step) prior to flashing latest OTA buils 2331.
Is he correct?
Any danger if I skip this step?
Any idea why i can't adb connect to it through WiFi? I was able to do it before the update.
Streaming quality has gone down considerably i.e for all the apps. Most preferably for live streaming channels and apps. :(

-Netflix optical 5.1 sound works no need to switch ps4 when decided to watch with 5.1 audio
-Usb storage edit fixed no need to use paragon+total commander anymore OMG
-DS4 mapping corrected no big deal since I was only using emulators but still nice
Little touches:
-Better volume bar no longer poor 6.0 style
-Screenshot shortcut in restart menu no need to use keyboard anymore
-Kinda better settings menu
